There's a reason every party has a charcuterie board now.

It feeds a crowd without anyone stuck at the stove. People can graze all afternoon instead of waiting for a set mealtime. Picky eaters, vegetarians, and the friend who only eats crackers all find something. And let's be honest, it's the first thing everyone takes a picture of.

Making it yourself? Plan on 3–4 oz of meat and cheese per person. Set out the cheese and bowls first, then fill the gaps with crackers, fruit, and nuts.

Rather hand it off? made this one for a recent event. They'll do the planning, shopping, and arranging for you. Just pick it up or have it delivered and enjoy your party.

Either way, you'll need a good spot to set it out. At The Little Lakehouse there's room for the board, the gifts table, and 24 guests, with the lake right outside the window.

Looking for an easy way to celebrate the end of summer? We’ve got the cozy space and the fall vibes. Here are a few ideas to get your wheels turning:

Chili Bar – Everyone loves a good slow-cooked pot of chili (or two). Add some toppings and cornbread? Instant crowd-pleaser.

Caramel Apple Bar – Set out sliced apples, warm caramel, and all the toppings (crushed Oreos, sprinkles, nuts—go wild).

B**r or C***r Tasting – Feature fall favorites from local spots like Matanuska Brewing or BearPaw River Brewing (which is just down the street). Add a few snacks and call it a happy hour.

Tailgate Party – Bring the game indoors! Watch your team on our big screen, set out some wings and sliders, and keep things low-key but festive.

Fall gatherings don’t have to be fancy—just fun, cozy, and full of your favorite people.

You don't need a complicated menu, a perfectly styled house, or a Pinterest-worthy table to be a great host.

Some of the best gatherings are the easiest ones.

A drink waiting when guests arrive.
Food you can mostly prepare ahead.
A few little touches that say we're glad you're here.
And enough breathing room that you actually get to enjoy the people you invited.

Easy hosting = more time around the table and less time running around the kitchen.

Save this for the next time you're hosting.
