Ride Like A BrachStar BrachStar sharing stories, tips, videos & photos about his journey training… or…available for lessons

BrachStar is going to share stories, tips, videos and photos about his journey with the progressive training of a horse: specially BrachStar. Topics will include why the rider does this to me, how I felt about it and what do you think? "Training horses is vast," BrachStar says, and let's hope "all horses benefit from the gymnastic training a rider/owner does to or for the horse." Whether it is accepting the bit, saddle, rider, understanding cues or going over obstacles, BrachStar

Amazing lesson with DebbieRodriguezDressage today. I just can’t get over how beautiful my horse looks. This horse as a half Percheron and very heavy looks really elegant. I know it’s because he has correct basic training that’s why I call this “Ride like a BrachStar.” If you want to ride like a BrachStar, you need to have correct basic training and it all begins with a rider’s position: sitting in the middle balanced and upright, elastic elbows bending and following the contact with a straight line elbow to bit. The ankles under your hips with toes straight ahead as the ball of your foot rests on the stirrup with thighs turned in to open the hip but no gripping which shuts down your ability to go with and signal the horse. When you have those things you can communicate more clearly to the horse in a way that the horse understands. Timing or developing equestrian tact is next. I am so proud of us and glad I had good training when I learned how to ride! Oh yeah, still learning! Read Alois Podhajsky, The Complete Training of Horse and Rider. I used to read that book then go practice!

Fun riding today one handed at the canter. No tripping. Sitting in balance, light carriage in bridle ( yes a double bridle way easier), smooth downward transition... What I was about to say was I could of done a flying lead change one handed! 😯 Next time!

Hello I am BrachStar. I started a new page to share my journey of being a horse trained to do what I am not exactly sure. But my owner has me trotting and cantering circles, walking up and down hills, and jumping over obstacles. It is all very entertaining and I never know what we are going to do until I am doing it! I get a lot of compliments on my looks and presence so I thought I'd share some of that too. Here I am, a little younger, in a professional photo shoot all cleaned up (whoever picked the red halter should be fired) and another photo of how I really like to be, all muddy and scruffy. Maybe I should be called Scruffy and not BrachStar ~ lol.
Enjoy my journey as I share my magnificence with you on my training journey. Yes, I have little bit of an ego, but there is only one BrachStar.
