Champion Herdsman Award – 2026

The Champion Herdsman Award recognizes exhibitors who go above and beyond during fair week through leadership, sportsmanship, animal care, teamwork, and helping others.

Two awards will be presented:
🏆 Intermediate Champion Herdsman
🏆 Senior Champion Herdsman

Throughout the week, judges will observe exhibitors in the barns, show rings, and around the fairgrounds. They will be looking for outstanding animal care, clean stalls, positive attitudes, leadership, and willingness to help fellow exhibitors.

Intermediate exhibitors must complete a Champion Herdsman Bingo Card to be eligible. Bingo cards can be picked up at the Fair Office or the Gold Barn Desk, and turned into the fair office by 10 a.m. on Friday. Completing the bingo card does not automatically determine the winner—it is simply one part of the overall judging process.

Champion Herdsman is a once-in-a-lifetime honor. Winners may proudly hold the title, but are not eligible to win it again, allowing future exhibitors the opportunity to be recognized.

The Washington County Fair Association (Fair Board) is proud to announce the completion of a recent improvement project at the fairgrounds with the installation of four new fans in the Gold Barn.

This project was made possible through a collaborative effort and generous support from the Washington County FFA Alumni, the Conrad Stewart Memorial, and grant funding provided by Farmers Cooperative with matching support from Land O’Lakes.

These improvements will enhance comfort and usability of the Gold Barn for exhibitors, livestock, and visitors, further supporting the Fair Association’s mission to provide a high-quality environment for youth and community events.
