Our goal with "In Sight and Sound: Live De(a)f Poetry" is to create an amazing performance with deaf and hearing artists that will help with breaking down communication barriers that exist between the cultures. We do this not by just having performances interpreted in spoken word and ASL but by inserting ASL performance. What you see on stage is not just an interpretation but deaf and hearing arti

Hey everyone just a few days the premier MIANBA Productions with Producers Richard D. Graham Jr. and Michelle A. Banks are proud to present as part of Capital Fringe Festival “What It’s Like? One Veterans Tale of Addiction, Survival and PTSD” written and performed by Richard D. Graham Jr. Directed by Michelle A. Banks as part of the 2013 Capital Fringe Festival, a program of the Washington, D.C. non-profit Capital Fringe. Come out and support this production and its message. A tale of one Marine Corps veteran his experiences in combat and returning home and his life after combine with stories of other veterans from different eras to give you the viewing audience an idea of “What It’s Like” to return to a land that you call home yet many things have changed and dealing with that is not as simple as it seems. This performance sheds light on the disorder of PTSD and its’ symptoms including substance abuse and psychological disorders that arise as a result.
This performance is NOT recommended for audiences under the age of 18 due to mature content; language and graphic depiction of substance abuse combine with other shocking content material.
Performances are at Goethe Institut- Main Stage located at 812 7th Street NW, Washington, DC. 20001 on Sunday, July 14th, 2013 at 1:00PM (ASL Interpreted), Friday, July 19th, 2013 at 9:00 PM (ASL Interpreted), Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013 at 7:00PM, Thursday, July 25th, 2013 at 6:45PM, Saturday, July 27th, 2013 at 5:45PM.

This is a performance that you do not want to miss, especially with the rising number of veterans returning home from far off lands to a place that may not look like home anymore.
This performance is not for those who may or are suffering from symptoms of PTSD. To my fellow veteran’s thank you for your service, I salute you.

One veteran's experiences in combat. He returns home only to find out he is different than everyone he knew. The play follows his struggles in life, with substance abuse and the disorder PTSD.
