FILM SCREENING: The Legacy | Apartheid’s Shadow (Directed By .moore_ & presented by & BLOOMBARS.

:Legacy: Apartheid’s Shadow (2024), directed by Tara Moore, is a critically acclaimed documentary examining how the systemic inequality of South Africa’s apartheid era continues to shape the nation 30 years after its fall.

The film is a searing examination of systemic racism that illuminates universal truths on inequality and accountability
featuring an unlikely protagonist: the grandson of the “Architect of Apartheid”, who poses a question that cuts to the heart of every society built on racial hierarchy: If you benefit from an injustice you didn’t commit - are you accountable?

BLOOMBARS welcomes Captain Sage O’Silver—pirate fiddler, tap dancer, and musical historian—for a 7-week musical adventure starting Wednesday, May 6th at 5:45pm! Tickets available on EB! Each weekly class offers a new opportunity for budding buccaneers (Ages 2-6) and their families & caregivers to sing, stomp, and explore together.

Captain Sage (“Sage O’Silver”) is a songwriter, fiddler, flatfooter, and playwright. For years, she pirated out of Nashville, TN, and now performs at libraries and festivals in the DMV area—often with her duo, “The Whyrates, science pirates.” Her work has been featured by the Smithsonian, Yale U. Art Gallery, RI State Arts Council, Brown U. Folk Festival, MD Ren. Festival, Tall Ships Festivals, and her pirate democracy show was selected for District Fringe 2026. She holds a BA in History from Yale and an MA in Museums from Brown. https://www.sagesnider.com/solo-shows/

Private Lessons
We’re excited to announce Sage will host private lessons at BLOOMBARS! She is happy to teach any age, but recommends ages four and up. (Though she can make exceptions, especially for siblings). If some kids, especially younger, want to focus on songwriting instead of instrument skills, she can accommodate that as well.
