The U.S. Senate today confirmed Cameron Hamilton as Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), giving the agency a permanent leader as it faces another active disaster season and a period of significant organizational change. Hamilton was confirmed as part of a package of more than 70 executive branch nominees approved by the Senate.

President Trump announced that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will step down March 31, transitioning to a new role as Special Envoy for “The Shield of the Americas,” a Western Hemisphere security initiative expected to be unveiled this weekend in Florida.

Trump also said Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) will become the next Secretary of Homeland Security, citing his congressional experience and commitment to the administration’s border security agenda.

The move marks a significant change at one of the federal government’s largest national security agencies, which oversees border enforcement, cybersecurity, disaster response, and transportation security.

More details on the Shield of the Americas initiative and the DHS leadership transition are expected in the coming days.

We are proud to announce that Carla Provost, former Chief of the United States Border Patrol, has joined GTSC as a Strategic Advisor.

Chief Provost brings nearly three decades of federal service, including historic leadership as the first woman to serve as Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, where she led more than 20,000 personnel safeguarding our nation’s borders. Her experience spans national security strategy, operational planning, workforce development, humanitarian response, and technology modernization during one of the most dynamic periods in border security history.

In her role with GTSC, Chief Provost will provide strategic insight to our member companies on mission needs, public-private collaboration, and the evolving operational requirements of border security.
