Welcome to the Renaissance, DC! Set in the 1590s, Something Rotten! is a wildly entertaining musical farce that imagines the chaotic birth of the very first musical. Brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are struggling playwrights desperate to write a hit in the long shadow of a certain Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard” (William Shakespeare!). Packed with clever wordplay, Shakespearean tropes, and laugh-out-loud surprises, Something Rotten! was nominated for 10 Tony Awards following its debut and is lauded as one of the funniest musical comedies ever written.

This production of Something Rotten! is the culmination of The Theatre Lab’s renowned Musical Theatre Institute for Teens (MTIT), an intensive four-week training program in which participants rehearse and perform a full musical production under the guidance of the area’s most esteemed theatre professionals. For nearly 35 years, The Theatre Lab has provided the Washington D.C. metro area with award-winning theatre education. We are the largest independent drama school in the DMV area, with classes for students of all ages and experiences in acting, musical theatre, playwriting, TV, film, voiceover, and much more.

In need of a Wonderland? Be inspired, surprised and delighted with our unique version of the Alice story. Momentum Dance Theatre presents ALICE: Why We All Need A Wonderland, our dance theater version of the beloved Lewis Carroll books with original script by Artistic Director Roberta Rothstein and Mr. Carroll.

ALICE showcases diverse dance styles: jazz, contemporary, ballet, hip hop and Bollywood with an eclectic musical playlist and originally designed props and costumes. Meet our Mad Hatter, March Hare, Mock Turtle, Caterpillar and all the other Alice characters, This professionally produced show features our talented Jazz Hip Hop Academy students plus adult actors.
