**ATTENTION**
We regret to inform you that The March For Reparations DC and all other affiliated direct actions have been temporarily postponed. Here's some essential information you may need to know about this change.
A word from the organizers:
We have been holding out as long as possible with the hopes that the National Parks Department would grant our permit for January 21st. Unfortunately, they have not done so and security measures being implemented for the inauguration continue to get more and more restrictive. In addition to these setbacks, local and federal authorities continue to modify restrictions making it difficult to organize and coordinate this march safely.
Due to the seditious acts perpetrated against our country in our nation's capitol, Black America is once again being forced to acquiesce to white supremacy and the media continues to sow seeds of fear in the hearts and minds of the people. Peaceful demonstrations are being detoured and rescheduled while violent, right-wing mobs are allowed free reign to terrorize our country and people. This is not a new trend. We are seeing history repeat itself. Time and time again, local police allow these extremists to commit hate crimes and harass peaceful protestors all while brutalizing activists.
We also know from history that the National Guard and authorities are not in the capitol to protect Black lives, but to protect property and "maintain order". We cannot put our lives and march at risk.
Make no mistake, we are NOT afraid and we will NOT let white supremacy win!
This event's purpose is to educate the public on reparations as well as make our demands to the Biden Administration within the first 100 days. At the request of the people we serve, we have decided that our best course of action for the safety and well being of participants is to postpone this event until further notice. Ideally, we will reschedule for sometime during Black History Month.
We appreciate your interest in participating in this historic event! You will updates from us with new details once we get our new date confirmed.
