REGISTRATION IS STILL OPEN FOR THE THREE LITTLE PIGS CHALLENGE. This year, we are excited to announce that the Challenge for January will be VIRTUAL and IN PERSON allowing others to join in the fun!!!! Last year, we had our inaugural Three Little Pigs Challenge at Walt Disney World, and we received lots of feedback from our members. Some were disappointed that they were not able to participate because they couldn’t afford the expense to travel to Disney. So, this time we are giving folks the entire month of January to run a race and earn their Pig! The virtual can be any distance 5k, 10k, 13.1 or 26.2!!
For those of you who will be joining us in Florida, we will be holding a Meet and Greet and we’ll have swag bags for you. Please join us at the HILTON ORLANDO LAKE BUENA VISTA, 1751 Hotel Plaza Boulevard, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, 32830. This hotel is directly across the street from Downtown Disney. We will hold the meet and greet on Friday, January 10, 2014, from 2-6 to pick up your bags and bacon options. We have increased the meet up times to accommodate for folks traveling. Due to the volume of the people that are potentially registering for this event, this will be the ONLY swag bag pick up time and location. We will be more than happy to let someone else pick up your bag for you. As this Challenge is virtual, we will be mailing out all medals by the end of January so that everyone will have the month of January to complete the race if they do the virtual option. Yes, we know you love walking around the park with the extra medal, but we have to be fair to everyone and allow all participants the month of January to complete, earn and receive their Challenge rewards!
Although we would love to have the awesome tent on the actual course, Disney will only allow their employees and/or volunteers to be represented on the course because of logistical and safety concerns. We would not want any of the runners to confuse us with Disney staff especially if they were in need of aid, and we at ESC understand the Disney position. We know you may be disappointed that we can’t have a tent on the course, but trust that you understand the liability risk Disney faces to have anyone other than their team represented on the course. With that said, nothing stops you from packing your bacon in your running belt, reaching Mile 25 and chowing down!!! Just make sure you have some water handy and don’t choke. No one is allowed to choke on food on the course….It’s an ESC rule.
Another tough decision was deciding not to do a C2C challenge. Logistically, we are just not sure if we will be represented on the West Coast this year and don’t want to promise something that we may not be present for. We’re just a small group of individuals putting this together while working and running and trying to keep our own ‘stuff’ in order.
The cost of the Three Little Pigs Challenge remains $30. There will be a drop down menu for the virtual/in person option and the real bacon/strawberry flavored bacon for our vegan friends. You can register more than one person but please make a notation in the comments section so we know who is registering.
