The Puma Story
Puma Thurman emerged from Cleveland’s underground scene like a classic Tarantino revenge plot. Vocalist Nicky P, once a record store clerk with encyclopedic film knowledge, met drummer Brian Pritchard at a midnight horror screening of “Carrie.” The two bonded over their obsession with cult classics and formed the core of what would become Puma Thurman.
When they needed a guitarist with the right cinematic sensibilities, Brian Pritchard immediately thought of his DoHm bandmate, Brian Noll. Like two hitmen working in perfect synchronization, they only knew how to craft “killer” music. Noll brought his reality-bending time loops and existential approaches to songwriting, perfectly complementing Pritchard’s relentless, death-proof rhythms
When looking for a second guitarist, the band sought someone with both technical skill and a strategic mind. Connor emerged as the perfect candidate – a soft-spoken musician who made offers that couldn’t be refused. Like a calculating don orchestrating his empire, Conor layered intricate harmonies beneath their sonic violence, building tension through restraint before unleashing devastating musical vendettas. Connor’s basement became their compound, a place where musical business could be conducted away from prying ears.
The final piece fell into place when Jimmy B, fresh from performing with a band of reformed convicts on a mission from God, picked up his bass and transformed the band’s sound with the awe-inspiring impact of a T-Rex crashing through a visitor center. Legend has it that during that first jam, Jimmie improvised a bass solo so intricate it cracked some code in reality and caused a plant Connor kept in his basement to mysteriously evolve. The group, unfazed, collectively thought “Life, uh, finds a way.”
In this way, Puma Thurman is less like a street-level outfit and more of a powerful musical syndicate with territorial control over Cleveland’s underground scene.

Does It Matter? Don’t pretend you don’t want to watch the hell out of that “Behind The Music,” even if it isn’t.
Whatever the truth is, Puma Thurman is the Michael Bay summer blockbuster of a band you didn’t know you needed.
