Hello friends, it is with great pleasure that I share with you that the PCS/Albert Hall will be part of the permanent exhibit at The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music.
The center celebrates the history of American music and will include displays and instruments showcasing everything from indigenous music to Johnny Cash and Pete Seeger. I wonder if Joe and George Albert couldโve ever dreamed that one day their instruments would sit along side the likes of Hank Williamsโ. It is truly a monumental milestone in the PCS history that Joe & George, Merce & Arlene Ridgway, Janice Sherwood, Gladys Eayre, Pete Curry and the thousands of musicians and countless volunteers who have given so much and made this organization their lifeโs work, will now be recognized on this scale. And this is just the beginning!! It has always been the mission of the PCS to preserve the people, history, folklore and music of the region known as the Pine Barrens. Our founders spent countless years ensuring the music was passed down to the next generation. Now, over 50 years later as the stewards of this great legacy, we stand as committed as ever to ensure that folks will have the chance to hear the โSweet Sounds of the Jersey Pinesโ for the next 50 years and beyond.
Stay tuned for more amazing announcements about our archive project.
As PCS president it is with great pride that I congratulate the Pinelands Cultural Society, Albert Hall, every musician, volunteer, and audience member both past and present for helping to leave their mark on American music!
