The Wallace Huckleberry Festival Committee would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the City of Wallace and their workers, especially Cory Harshman, who has always gone out of his way to help us with all of our arrangements.
We are aware of the complaints that were launched in regards to the way the streets of Wallace were left after our festival. Just to be PERFECTLY CLEAR to those who could have reached out directly to the committee for clarity:
1-the material used for our vendor spaces was marketed as "temporary chalk", which clearly it wasn't. The company will be reimbursing us for their misleading information.
2-there was NEVER any intention for the festival to defile the streets of Wallace.
3-the entire committee was scheduled to clean the streets this evening but the city crew was amazing and took care of this for us, another indication of how well they work with committees and organizations.
4-lesson learned and not to be repeated.
Our committee works tirelessly to make sure our festival benefits friends, families, visitors, and most importantly the City of Wallace and it's businesses. We poll the businesses at the end of each year, asking for suggestions and improvements and we do our best to make those adjustments in future years. We have not, however, polled the residents...until now.
A feedback survey will be posted tomorrow morning. This survey will be open until the end of September for businesses, residents, and visitors. If there was something specific that affected you personally, please give us your feedback. It is impossible to fix something that we don't know about (unless we see it on the socials).
On a personal note, everything done for this festival is done on a volunteer basis. The committee works very hard before, after, and during. There are a lot of things that people don't get to see behind the scenes and sometimes we forget that there are humans attached to these committees who have feelings and families and a love for our small town. Please try to remember that what is done by this committee is done for our community. If you have ideas and suggestions, please come join us for next years festival.
