Santa will be there, too!
And it’s for a good cause: adults get half-off admission if you bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys For Tots.
What to Expect
Visitors are greeted with multiple rooms of model train layouts, each set in a cheerful holiday atmosphere. The trains range in size from classic Lionel sets to detailed N-scale models and tiny Z-scale trains, often with interactive exhibits that invite children and adults to operate locomotives as they chug past snowy villages and twinkling lights.
The holiday display is meticulously crafted, making for an authentic and immersive experience that appeals to both seasoned hobbyists and younger attendees. As a special treat, the large under-construction HO-scale layout of the shows sponsor, the Garden State Central Model Railroad Club, Inc., will be on display, as well as the club’s museum room.
Why It’s Special
The event takes place at the historic Camp Evans complex, a National Historic Landmark that is now home to the InfoAge Science & History Museums. Highlights include the InfoAge Space Exploration Center, where visitors can learn about satellite communications and space science; the Radio Technology Museum, which delves into the evolution of wireless technology; the Military Technology Museum featuring vintage vehicles and military history; the New Jersey Shipwreck Museum, presenting artifacts from maritime disasters; and the Vintage Computer Federation Museum, which showcases classic computers and hands-on electronics labs.
