Blue Creek Christmas

Blue Creek Christmas Over 100,000 Christmas lights set to music Come on out and check out our awesome light show set to Christmas music. And it's free!!! We have over 90,000 lights.

It's our seventh year and we're working to keep making things better and better. We do collect donations for charity and give 100% of donations to a different non-profit every year. How many lights are there, you ask? And there is also over 3 miles of extension cords. How does it work? A combination of hardware and software from companies called Light-o-Rama, Sandevices, and Falcon Christmas. Thes

e guys are the best. Great products. Great support. Truly awesome. Check them out at http://www.lightorama.com, http://www.sandevices.com, and http://pixelcontroller.com. And how does the radio thing work? We have a small transmitter set up in our home that broadcasts on FM 97.1. It's only made to transmit just far enough for it to sound good when you're on the cul-de-sac watching the show. Other interesting facts:
* Power draw when all lights are on: About 9,000 watts, if they're all turned on, which rarely happens during the course of the show.
* Over 15,000 feet of extension cord. Yep. Over 3 miles.

What? 2 posts in 10 days?!?! Over 3 months after Christmas??? Yep. It's happening.

We finally finished creating the videos for last season's light show! So, if you weren't able to make it out to see it in person, or, even if you were, but you'd like to see it again, you're in luck!!

As always, they include a bunch of cool drone footage shot by our very talented friend, drone pilot Brandon Nigg.

Here's a playlist that has each song broken up separately to make it easy to skip around: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3exBkM-zILiqDSdQomJlCFURA8aef5H4&si=myqpuXh3XDb3cE3L

It's definitely been a minute since we last touched base, but we promise we have a good reason! We've been anxious to share the news about the final tally of donations that you all shared with us here at Blue Creek Christmas, but we wanted to be sure to share it with our friends at the Aiming for a Cure Foundation first.

They held their annual fundraiser banquet on 3/21 and that's where we got to make the donation presentation. Even if we hadn't gotten to share our good news with them, it would have been an absolutely incredible night. The crowd of over 750 people was electric, to say the least, as they all gathered in support of people who are facing the difficult situation of a cancer diagnosis. What an evening!!!

And now... we share with all of our friends here on social media that we got to present a donation of $15,439.56!

We continue to feel very humbled to act as the ambassadors of our guests' generosity. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and may God bless you all.

As always, we're hard at work on next year's show. Lots of planning, building, and programming goes into each year and we're working year round to bring you a great experience. We'll light things back up again in 242 days. Be sure to check back here soon, though, as we're just about to release all the videos from this past year's show. Until then...

Happy New Year!!! (well... almost)

The show is still up and running if you'd like to come out and see us. We have a BRAND NEW song in the playlist, starting tonight, in celebration of the new year. It's not the same Auld Lang Syne you've been hearing/watching here for the last 10 years!

Aaaaaannnnddddd... tonight a new feature will be activated! It's Blue Creek Christmas' first-ever item with motion. It rivals Times Square!! ...okay, maybe not, but we think it's pretty cool. Oh, and our singing trees add to their look in honor of the song artist. Let us know if you stop by and can figure out what we're talking about.

Our final night will be 1/4/2026 and the new song will be in the rotation until then. See you soon!!

It's almost time to get things started for the 2025-26 season!! We will have our friends here from the Aiming for a Cure Foundation to get things kicked off in style! Be sure to come on out. We'll be running from 7pm-10pm tonight and we'll be starting at 5:30 every night thereafter (well... through Jan 4, anyway.)

A lot of you have been asking when things start up for the season. We're excited to say that we're just over a week away from turning everything on for opening night of our 15th season here at Blue Creek Christmas. We'll get things lit up on November 30 @ 7pm!!

As always, we have a new playlist with some fun songs. And we have some new props in the yard that you'll want to check out as well.

We're also excited to announce that Aiming For A Cure is our donation recipient for the year. They'll be on hand to help us kick things off on the 30th!

We can't wait to see everyone back this year.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! OK... maybe that's a little weird, coming from a page centered on Christmas lights, but we hope you won't mind.

The 2024-25 light show season was another fun one for us. We love getting to see so many people make time in their lives to come and visit us. We work hard to make sure there's something for everyone and getting to see all of your smiling faces is our favorite thing in the world!

If you weren't able to make it out this year to see the show, or if you'd like to see it again, or if you'd like to see it from a couple of once-again-incredible views, as shot from the drone of our friend, William Nigg, here are the links to the video(s) of the show. The first link is the entire end-to-end show, including some first time time-lapse footage of the light show setup and some fly-around drone footage at the end. The second link is the playlist that includes each of the segments of the show, if you'd like to skip around from segment to segment.

We're hard at work getting ready for the 2025-26 season and we can't wait to see everyone out here again. Lights turn on in 259 days! Hope you can join us.

Tonight (after Mother Nature ruined our plans last month), we were able to visit with our donation partner from the 2024-25 season and present them with the donation representing the generosity of all of our guests. Thanks to the Center Point Lions for giving us a few minutes at your meeting this evening.

Every donation presentation has been special. Tonight was no different. But tonight gave us a chance to see something come full circle. As we waited our turn to present the donation check to the Lions, they first made a large donation of their own to Iowa KidSight. When our son was very young, we took him to an event hosted by the Lions where the KidSight team screened his eyes and discovered a problem that, left untreated, would have caused his sight to be significantly impaired. Because it was caught early, we were able to get him the treatment he needed and today (over a decade later), though his sight isn't perfect, he enjoys a very normal teenage life and doesn't even require glasses.

We share this to show that your donations to Blue Creek Christmas really make a difference. Because we can share your generosity with great organizations like the Lions, they are able to do great things in our communities. We couldn't be prouder to be part of that.

And now... without further adieu, we are excited to announce that we got to deliver a check for $10,104.41 to the Lions so that they can continue to do their amazing work!! This brings the total donated through Blue Creek Christmas to over $152,000 to 14 different recipients over the last 13 years.

Thank you to our generous guests, and, maybe even more importantly, to our incredible neighbors who allow us to do what we do, year after year.

There's one more post coming next week that you won't want to miss, but for now, please accept our humble appreciation for being part of Blue Creek Christmas. We're thankful for you all.

In less than 6 hours, the lights will go dark until next season. Be sure to come out to support our charity, the Center Point Lions and enjoy the lights one last time this season. You might see our family enjoying our yearly tradition as we pile in our own car and watch together one last time.ourselves.

Whether you've been out to see us or not, you should definitely stop by tonight (or any time through 1/5) to see the new song that enters the playlist tonight to help welcome the new year.
