💥Plantar Fasciitis💥
-
❤️ SAVE this post if you need to give your feet some love!
-
💥 Plantar Fascia rehab doesn't have to be complicated (nor does any rehab for that matter)
-
💆🏻 Although rolling out your feet with a lacrosse ball or using orthotics might feel good in the short-term, usually you'll need to eventually perform some sort of exercise therapy to help better distribute load to other areas as well as build up the stress tolerance of the plantar fascia so that it can tolerate more load in the future
-
💯 The exercises I show here are not "all-inclusive", meaning that they may or may not be appropriate for you at your stage of rehab, which is why consulting with a physical therapist to guide your rehab is always a good idea to make sure things run more smoothly
-
🎥 The intent with these specific exercises is to:
-
1️⃣ Improve great toe extension mobility, which if stiff can put unwanted stress on the plantar fascia. The mobilization shown here can be helpful if you have trouble stretching this area due to pinching or sharp pain
-
2️⃣ Improve loading tolerance and strength to the plantar fascia
-
📌 Here I use the to "preload" the plantar fascia during calf raises to increase the stress to the plantar fascia with the exercise. This is a good thing because we want the plantar fascia to be more RESILIENT and TOLERANT to loading with our everyday activities like walking, running, jumping, etc. Using a rolled up towel under the toe also works well but having a helpful tool like this comes in handy
-
🚨 Some pain with the exercise is okay, but shouldn't be extreme (it should be tolerable to you)

Dark Chocolate- It’s Good For You! 🍫

There is considerable evidence that cocoa can provide powerful health benefits, being especially protective against heart disease.

Of course, this doesn’t mean you should go all out and consume lots of chocolate every day. It is still loaded with calories and easy to overeat.

Maybe have a square or two after dinner and try to really savor them. If you want the benefits of cocoa without the calories in chocolate, consider making a hot cocoa without any cream or sugar.

Also be aware that a lot of the chocolate on the market is not healthy.

Choose quality stuff — dark chocolate with 70% or higher cocoa content. You might want to check out this guide on how to find the best dark chocolate.

Dark chocolates typically contain some sugar, but the amounts are usually small and the darker the chocolate, the less sugar it will contain.

Chocolate is one of the few foods that taste awesome while providing significant health benefits.

💥Low Back Rehab💥
-
⁉️ Struggling with low back pain but still want a solid full body workout that will also help your back?!
-
🎥 Here I show a sample workout that I designed for one of my online clients with moderate low back pain sensitivity:
-
1️⃣ Dowel Squat
2️⃣ Dowel Hip Hinge
3️⃣ Prone Pressups
4️⃣ Chest Supported Row
5️⃣ Reverse Hyperextensions
6️⃣ Hands Elevated Pushup
7️⃣ Quadruped Bird Dog
-
📋 On her intake form, she wrote:
-
"I love to hike, am active in weight/cardio exercises, and love to play with my dog.
-
However, I hurt my back 2 years ago while transferring a patient (*she's a nurse) and ever since then have been having issues with the right lower back/buttock area. The area no matter what I have been doing is very tight and sore.
-
I have been working on my core strength since then and was following with a personal trainer but kept having exacerbations. I am frustrated that when I am performing a plank or lifting weights the back starts to hurt."
-
🗓 Towards the end of our first month working together she sent me this message:
-
"I truly have felt such a difference in my back/I feel better when moving especially at work when assisting patients. My husband stated how much of a difference he has seen! I am amazed how much better I feel after 3 weeks! Honestly I wish I had come to you sooner!"
-
🙌🏼 Significant results don't always happen this fast, but it's great to see when they do!

Take care of your body and mind. A big part of your overall health is how much rest you get. Sleep is important for self maintenance, and the lack of it, may be a cause of health issues.

So, take time for yourself, and get a good night sleep. 😴

We are past the first week of 2021, how are you doing with your New Year’s health and fitness resolutions?

Whatever your goal(s) are, here’s a few tips to help you stay on track!

🔷 Start out slowly: Pace yourself, it’s a marathon not a sprint. Being too aggressive at the beginning may prove to be more challenging and discouraging. If your goal is to walk more, set a goal of one or two miles a week, as opposed to ten, then gradually build.

🔷Plan your workouts: Have a planning strategy in place to help you stay on track and focused. If possible plan at least a week ahead , so you’re not trying to rush or squeeze in activities or eating plans.

🔷Set realistic goals and believe you can achieve them: Whether it’s weight loss or endurance, start with a realistic number to begin and build from there, remember the first point, start out slowly.

🔷Use positive peer pressure: Surround yourself with people that will encourage you and help you be accountable, such as a workout or waking buddy. It helps not to make the journey alone.

🔷Keep track of your progress: Make your goals tangible so that you can keep track and celebrate your progress. Use tracking tools such as activity apps that track your movements, or as simple as a journal. Seeing how far you’ve come since the beginning point, should help you to strive to stay on course.

And remember, you can do it!

Hydration is so key. Not only should you drink a lot everyday but you should focus on eating water rich foods such as fruits!
