Just a few days ago, I learned the sad news that one of my very good friends Carl Crew passed away. Carl was the owner/co-creator of the incredible North Hollywood venue called the California Institute of Abnormal Arts, aka the C.I.A., which gave unique oddball artists, bands, and performers a magical home to create and perform in. Over 20 years ago, the Venice Beach Freakshow even did our first shows there when we were called the Super Freaks Sideshow & R***e. I’ll never forget the exciting moment when me and Carl walked out front to see if anyone was waiting to get into the first show and there was a line going down blocks and blocks! We sold out the show and had to turn people away!🎪🤡🎪 Carl and I were thrilled!✨❤️✨
Over the years, Carl did so much for so many and always gave thanks to God for the fun crazy life that he was given. Today, I give thanks for Carl and ask you all to blow a Freakshow kiss towards heaven for Carl and a life well lived🙏❤️🙏 and as he would say, “I’ll see you down the road Daddio!!!”
