The Holy Family teaches us why “Surrendering to God's will is the Foundation of Family Life.” In Saint Joseph and the Blessed Virgin Mary, we meet a couple who shows an openness to allowing God to lead their life together. Both were asked to surrender everything they knew.

Mary said yes to a plan she didn't fully understand — "let it be done to me according to your word" — and carried it with trust. Joseph opened his heart to the messenger sent by God and took Mary into his home. Later on, they followed the prompting of the angel to flee into Egypt for safety and waited there until they were told to return home.

The Holy Family is a great model for families everywhere to always be open to God's will and to obey without needing the full picture. Neither of them controlled the story, but both of them showed up for it anyway. That's what surrender looks like: not passivity, but a daily yes to a will greater than our own plans.

Let your discernment, marriage and family life be built on trust in God, rather than a need to control. St. Joseph & Blessed Mother - Pray for us 🙏

At our Annual Conference next month, there will be a unique opportunity to venerate the relics of Sts. Louis & Zélie Martin (parents of St. Therese of Lisieux, and the very first married couple to be canonized together). These great saints are perfect examples of what it means to have a healthy foundation of marriage and parenthood!

As Pope Leo said on the 10th anniversary of their canonization: "This... is the model of a couple that the Holy Church presents to young people who wish... to embark on such a beautiful adventure: a model of fidelity and attention to one another, a model of fervor and perseverance in the faith, of Christian education of children, of generosity in the exercise of charity and social justice; a model also of trust in times of trial... But above all, this exemplary couple bears witness to the ineffable happiness and profound joy that God grants... to those who commit themselves to this path of fidelity and fruitfulness."

He remarked: "Louis and Zélie did not fulfill their desire to become saints and educate their children in holiness by withdrawing from the world. They assumed their duty in the ordinary course of everyday life... However, we must not be mistaken: this seemingly “ordinary” life was inhabited by a presence of God that was, to say the least, “extraordinary” and was its absolute center. “God first served” is the motto on which they built their entire existence.

St. Jude, pray for us. ❤️

As we planned our Love & Responsibility events this year, we entrusted our work to the intercession of St. Jude, patron of difficult situations. We are so grateful for the ways God answered those prayers and guided our events from beginning to end.

But St. Jude is a powerful intercessor not only for seemingly impossible situations, but for all the burdens we carry:
- Are you struggling in your marriage?
- Waiting and praying for the right relationship?
- Walking through a difficult breakup or reconciliation?
- Praying for healing in your family?
- Hoping a relationship can be restored or renewed?

Bring it to St. Jude. Ask for his intercession. Pray a novena. And above all, entrust your situation to Christ, remembering that what seems impossible to us is never beyond God’s reach.

St. Jude, pray for our vocations, marriages, families, and relationships, and for all who long to love and be loved authentically. 🙏

BIOGRAPHY: Bobby Angel is a Catholic author, speaker, and mentor-in-training with the CatholicPsych Institute with more than twenty years of experience in ministry. He is author of Gaming and the Heroic Life: A Quest for Holiness in the Virtual World. He is the coauthor with his wife, Jackie, of Pray, Decide, & Don’t Worry (also with Fr. Mike Schmitz) and Forever: A Catholic Devotional for Your Marriage. He earned bachelor’s degrees from the University of Florida and St. John Vianney College Seminary and master’s degrees from the St. Vincent DePaul Regional Seminary and the Augustine Institute. He trained at the Theology of the Body Institute. He also worked as a certified firefighter and emergency medical technician.

Angel has spoken at NCYC, the Good News Conference, Life Teen retreats, and diocesan youth conferences. He is a regular on Bearded Blevins’s Around the Halo on Twitch, on the Ascension Presents YouTube channel, and the God and Gaming video series with Fr. Blake Britton. He contributes to the National Catholic Register and served as a fellow of parish life at the Word on Fire Institute.

He lives with his wife and five children in the Dallas, Texas, area.
