Who's coming Saturday!!???

🌱 COME GET DIRTY WITH US 🌱

We’re getting one of The Hollow gardens ready and we’d love for you to join us!

We’ll be moving mulch, shoveling and prepping the garden plot — and probably getting pretty dirty in the process. 😂

Come by yourself, bring a friend, bring the kids — this is part of the community we’re building together.

And this isn’t just about helping us with a garden. This is something you’re going to be a part of too. We’ll cultivate it, care for it, harvest from it and enjoy it together — all while getting to know each other and building the kind of community we want The Hollow to be.

This will be the first of many meetups for this garden. We’ll work hard, have fun and watch it all come together one meetup at a time. 🌱❤️

Ohhhh my goodness!!! ❤️ I just found this old video and HAD to share it!

This was The Hollow before the hurricanes —... Easter egg hunts, kids running around, families everywhere… and apparently the Easter Bunny flying down a zip line. 🐰😂

This is the kind of place we’re trying to bring back.

We’re not there yet. There’s still a lot to rebuild, and a lot we want to create — but that’s also what makes this part exciting. We get to build it back together!!

So if you’ve been wanting to get involved with The Hollow, this is the time. We need people with ideas, people willing to help, people who want to volunteer, and people who just want to be part of creating something really special for local families.

I want to take a minute to talk about our gardening program and give a HUGE shout-out to Karen Kelly Schaack , because she has been putting so much time, work and heart into getting all of this going. 🌱❤️

We’re actually building THREE different garden spaces at The Hollow, because apparently one garden just wasn’t enough. 😂

Our weekly community garden will be a hands-on garden for the people who want to be actively involved. Everyone who participates will help with planting, watering, maintaining and caring for it throughout the season — and then get to enjoy the harvest together. It’s really about creating a little gardening team where everyone puts something into it and everyone gets something back.

Then we’ll have our medicinal garden/food forest, where we’ll grow herbs and healing plants and eventually learn how to turn some of them into things like tinctures and salves.

And finally, our co-op garden — a place for families and kids to come learn, plant, dig, get dirty and have fun in the process.

So if you see Karen riding around with buckets of plants, asking for cardboard or working on some new garden idea… now you know why. 😂

Something spooky is coming to The Hollow!!!!

🎃 THE HOLLOW-EEN FAMILY EVENT! 🎃

Join us Saturday, October 24th from 5PM–8PM at The Hollow!

We’re turning The Hollow into a Halloween night for the whole family — kids, teens AND adults! So yes, teens and grown-ups… that means you too. 😂

Come dressed up and ready for a night of candy, costumes, music, a spooky scavenger hunt, rock painting, games, prizes and plenty of Halloween fun!

🍬 Want to HOST A CANDY TABLE?
Grab one of our tables or bring your own, decorate it however you want — spooky, funny, crazy, creative — bring your candy and hand out candy to the kids.

IF YOU OWN A BUSINESS, HAVE A SIDE HUSTLE, SELL HANDMADE ITEMS, OR ARE PART OF A LOCAL ORGANIZATION, YOU’RE WELCOME TO PROMOTE THAT AT YOUR CANDY TABLE TOO!

Bring your business cards, display a sign, show off what you do, or set out information for people to take. We just ask that the main focus of your table stays on handing out candy and being part of the Halloween fun for the kids. 🎃..but don’t worry — if you’re wanting a chance to really set up and sell, we have a market coming up soon for that too! 👀

Yesterday’s gardening class was such a great day.

Seeing so many people come out, spend time together, learn, laugh, meet new people, and just enjoy being part of the day was exactly what we hoped The Hollow would become.

The kids also helped us start our new Rock Garden!! They painted rocks, added their names, date and designs, and left one at The Hollow. As more families come to future events, we’ll keep adding to it — and over time, it will become a really special way to look back and see all the families who have been part of The Hollow along the way.

And this is only the beginning!! We’re getting ready to fill up the calendar with classes, events, gardening, family activities, emergency preparedness, community projects and so much more.

A special shout out to Karen Kelly Schaack for all the time and effort she put into planning and teaching such a wonderful class... and another big thank you to all of our volunteers for all of your help. We truly couldn’t do this without you.

And of course, thank you to everyone who came out and spent the day with us. It was all so natural, like we have always all been together... we’re so glad you were there.
