Only on Vashon - The Monthly Rundown September 2026 by Anna Shomsky For months, or possibly years, I’ve been following along with a slowly unfolding drama. There’s a big metal structure that I think is a utility box at the intersection of 87th and Ellisport. On google maps, the box appears naked.

But warring bands of artists have been laying claim to this box, and each time I pass it by, there’s some new art on it. I haven’t managed to get every iteration. My memory is the psychic https://vashon-maury.com/only-on-vashon-the-monthly-rundown-september-2026/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=vashonmauryfbpage

Toad and Jaguar Tattoo & Gallery by Tyler Kaltreider Toad and Jaguar is run by wife-and-husband team, Alexis & Tyler. For over three years, they caravaned nomadically in a truck camper and Sprinter van searching for the perfect location to open their dream studio. One day, they stumbled upon the PNW paradise that is Island, Washington and immediately knew it was where they were meant to call home. Only on Vashon - The Monthly Rundown August 2026 by Anna Shomsky Last month I wrote my column two weeks late. This is because I was driving very slowly on the highway and it took me that long to get from Tahlequah to my house. But I have finally made it home and am ready to find out what happy memories people have been making in these final weeks of summer.

We’ll start with this post:

It used to be that you could get away with all sorts of uncouth behavior by being a pudgy older https://vashon-maury.com/only-on-vashon-the-monthly-rundown-august-2026/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=vashonmauryfbpage

Only on Vashon - The Monthly Rundown July 2026 by Anna Shomsky It’s summer, the tourists are here, and we’re all getting out more. And you know what that means: we are all uptown, crossing each other’s paths, colliding with each other, and taking up space that someone else intended to take up. This chaos is most apparent at the four-way, where pedestrians and vehicles compete for dominance.

In their post they include a gif that bounces between the below two pictures of bears, presumably https://vashon-maury.com/only-on-vashon-the-monthly-rundown-july-2026/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=vashonmauryfbpage

5 Vashon Island Farm Stands You Have to Visit by Vashon Island There's something about that slows you down the moment you step off the ferry — and nowhere is that more true than at our island's farm stands. Scattered along quiet country roads, these small, honor-system stops are where you'll find the freshest eggs, produce, and flowers on the island, often sold on the honor system from a cooler on someone's front porch. Here are five local favorites worth building a farm-hopping https://vashon-maury.com/5-vashon-island-farm-stands-you-have-to-visit/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=vashonmauryfbpage

Only on Vashon - The Monthly Rundown June 2026 by Anna Shomsky It’s tourist time of year, which means we need to be prepared for visitors. One islander wants to make a bingo card and set their houseguests loose in town on a scavenger hunt. They provided the below example, and asked for others to chime in.

As for town, I think you should add the concrete bunt cake pans used as doorjams and the rhubarb plant growing in the patch of dirt by the broken water fountain. Only on Vashon - The Monthly Rundown May 2026 by Anna Shomsky Spring has sprung, which means it's time for long walks on the beach so we can add to our collection of shark jaw bones.

I love that this picture includes two reminders to spray the pans.

Someone posts a link to a google search which brings up videos such as the one titled: DIY How to Preserve Shark Jaws (Tips and Tricks) and Preserving a Shark Jaw How to Taxidermy https://vashon-maury.com/only-on-vashon-the-monthly-rundown-may-2026/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=vashonmauryfbpage
