Fairboard Meeting--January 21, 2026 @ 5:30 pm
We were presented an agenda and an income statement for Jan 1, 2025 thru Dec 31, 2025. A current bank statement was not available.
New Business:
Debbie Hopke with the YMCA would like to have fish fries on March 13th & March 27th. We agreed on these dates.
March 2nd, Monday, will be a clean up day at the fairgrounds, if weather permits. Nancy will arrange for the prison girls to help. The cook shack needs to be painted, cookers cleaned, freezers moved, etc.
May 2nd the Fairboard will host a BBQ during the All-Town garage sales.
May 15th-16th the Fairboard will offer breakfast during the Homestead Festival.
June 6th the Fairboard would like to host a Car Cruise.
July 2nd, Thursday, is the date set for the Tractor Pull.
July 11th, is the date set for the Summer Palooza. We will be looking into coming up with new ideas and activities to draw a crowd.
August 22nd is the date set for the Demo Derby.
September 5th is the date set for the 2nd Fairboard Car Cruise.
October 2nd & 3rd is the Women's Retreat.
October 17th & 31st are the tentative dates for Trunk or Treat and the Haunted Barn. We will discuss this further at a later date.
There was discussion about joining the Chamber of Commerce. Dustin had the check ready and Nancy will mail it.
There was discussion on paperwork received from the Audrain County Health Department. The Health Dept. is wanting someone to be certified in food safety. Nancy said that she will get with Dustin and get the papers filled out and returned.
There was discussion on the misuse of the dumpsters. The big dumpsters were removed. Nancy will contact the company to get a dumpster with a key to be placed between the cooler and the shed. This will be available for the campers and cook shack use.
The present camper asked to trade mowing for rent. We decided against that. He also asked to put up a pop up shelter to store his motorcycle. No determination was made.
A brief discussion about playground equipment was had. It was mentioned that we might consider submitting a grant proposal to the Rural Morris Foundation to ask for funding. The proposal is due in March. Lori offered to begin looking into it and working on a draft.
The main ticket booth needs to be rebuilt. It was mentioned to ask Larry Nation if he would be willing to do it. No decision was made.
Next meeting is scheduled for February 25th at 5:30 pm.
