VB Firemen's Challenge This is a page dedicated to The VanBuren Firemen's Challenge put on by the VanBuren Fire Dept. Totally unique. See you there!!!

Unlike the Combat Challenge, it's an obstacle course based on "steps" firefighters might take at a structure fire with a person trapped inside. There are 12 "stations" that require the participant’s interaction; including climbing a ladder, venting a roof, going through a wall with the victim, getting the victim to medical help, getting water to the fire truck and discharging water at a target to stop the clock. The team competition requires interaction between team members at every third or fourth station, and each station is slightly more difficult than the individual competition. It can be as competitive as the participant wants it to be. Some guys/teams go all out to take home the traveling AXE award, to be brought back next year to defend. Some departments use it as a training exercise, others just run it to have fun and support the local fire department. It's a fun time for all and a lot of fun to watch, so bring the family.
