Fun fact for Friday. Seventeen years ago a Valley City couple (Mary Ellen and Ed Zaremba) motorcycled as far north in Alaska as roads allowed. Their path took them through the well known Sign Post Forest in Watson Lake, Canada. It is still one of the most famous landmarks along the Alaska highway. Well known because a traditional custom since the Alcan Highway’s opening, is to add a sign announcing your home town. And they did just that, and added Valley City signs! Also riding on their bike at the time representing Valley City, was a stuffed frog who went along on all their cross-country adventures. This year, their friend traveled to Sign Post Forest and sent this photo showing that the signs remain proudly displayed today. Thanks Zaremba's for sharing your story with us and and sharing a bit of Valley City with the world!

Frog Jump 2025 is ready to hop into action! 🐸 The Jump Ring is set, the tents are being lined up and we can't wait to welcome you to Frog Jump on Sunday! As as reminder, the Frog Jump festival is held rain or shine. The only temporary pause would be if there is lightening in the area (then we'll take a quick time out). Hope to see everyone tomorrow to cheer on the frogs!

Here's another piece of Frog Jump lore circa 1969; a one-ton cement frog that greeted event co-founder Jay Reynolds upon his return home from a hospital stay. This gigantic amphibian was created by Jay's friends with assistance from Mack Industries, after which it "jumped" into Jay's yard!🐸🐸🐸
