ROGER ODUM WINS THE 64th VALLEY CITY FROG JUMP!
On a warm summer day with a breeze great for leaping, the 64th annual Valley City Frog Jump Festival hopped to life on July 20th at Mill Stream Park. The park was packed with over 5,000 attendees who came out to enjoy the day and experience some quirky and unique family fun! A total of 738 frogs jumped in 37 flights, and 34 flight winners returned for the Grand Jump-Off totaling 772 jumps for the day. Roger Odom of Litchfield, was named the Grand Champion when his frog Emerald, had a final round jump of 12’2”. The Joseph Adams Corp. sponsored this coveted Grand Championship flight. Madison Brass of Berea, won the Reserve Champion award with her frog Bubba, completing a final round jump of 11’ 9½''. This prestigious runner-up trophy was sponsored by KMS Beauty Lab.
Hank Havens of Strongsville, took the award for the Norwalk Tours Longest Jump of the day, at 14' 6 ½” by his frog, Frogger. The Shortest Jump trophy winner, sponsored by Buckeye Dental & Braces, was Alice Doehne of LaGrange and her frog, Frog Too Well, who managed to move a leg off the start line and right back in again, resulting in a 0.0” jump.
