Meet the band behind the festival. 🎷
The Alive Music Orchestra isn’t just another name on the Vacaville Jazz Festival lineup — AMO is part of the heart and history behind it all.
Founded in the early 1980s by the late Keith Stout, Alive Music Orchestra began with a vision: celebrate American jazz, honor the roots of the music, and help inspire and develop the next generation of musicians. Over the decades, AMO grew from a small jazz group into a full big band and became a cornerstone of the Vaca Jazz Society.
That same mission eventually helped shape the Vaca Jazz Society, the volunteer-driven nonprofit behind the Vacaville Jazz Festival and its music education, youth programs and community events.
And when we say volunteer-driven, we mean it. Many of the musicians you’ll see onstage with AMO are also some of the people working throughout festival weekend to help make it all happen.
They don’t just play the festival. They’re part of building it.
Today, AMO continues under the direction of Ken Stout, carrying forward a musical legacy that’s been part of this community for decades.
