So Elf on the Shelf decided to crash the show and give himself a moment in the spotlight — uninvited, of course.

No warning. No invite. Just pure elf confidence.

Hey everyone — quick community update and request.

I don’t usually ask for anything, and most of what I do with lights is just for fun and to bring some holiday spirit to families (and the big kids at heart). But this one’s for a good cause.

The Urbana High School Marching Band is putting together a one-day light display and fundraiser at the Champaign County Fairgrounds called “Legend of the Lights.” The goal is to help raise money so the band can march in the Washington D.C. Memorial Day Parade — a huge opportunity for them.

I offered to help where I can, but they could still use:
• Outdoor LED string lights
• Volunteers to decorate a 10×10 space
• Sponsors or direct donations

If you’d like to help, here are the options:
• You can drop off LED light strings — I’ll have a donation box on my porch, no need to knock.
• You can donate directly to the organizers using the contact info on the flyer.
• Or, if you want to get involved hands-on, you can help decorate a space.

Every bit helps — even a single strand or small donation makes a difference.

Whether you donate or not, I hope you’ll come out and support the kids the night of the event. It’s about giving them a shot at something big and making the season a little brighter for the community.

• Stay out of the yards — there are more wires in there than the North Pole workshop.
• Keep your radio volume low — not everyone wants Mariah Carey on “maximum cheer.”
• Follow all traffic laws — the reindeer are watching.
• Turn headlights off when parked — the lights look 10x better in the dark anyway.
