Our Smokehouse Chairman Leo Duyck spoke at the Forest Grove Chamber of Commerce breakfast on Thursday and gave some inside details on our sausage making traditions for the last 91 years! Check out the article below!

Volunteers will make this year's Verboort sausage on Halloween and smoke it over vine maple ahead of the Nov. 7 dinner, Leo Duyck told chamber members.

Did you know? Our giant sequoias have been part of Verboort’s story for more than 140 years! 🌲

In the fall of 1883, John Ramsey Porter gifted the sequoia trees that still stand around Visitation Church today. Planted shortly after the church was dedicated, they’ve grown alongside our community for generations.

Cabbage, salt, water, and a whole lot of muscle. 💪 Our sauerkraut crew is hard at work pounding this year’s batch the old-fashioned way!

And yes… those giant wooden mallets really do get the job done. 😂

Our community always shows up, and they do it with a smile!

Thank you to every volunteer who helped make this year’s applesauce day such a success. We made 100 buckets this year, in record time!

🍏 This is what Verboort looks like. 🍏

More than 80 people showed up this morning to cut, cook, and press apples into applesauce for the 92nd Annual Verboort Sausage & Kraut Festival on November 7!

It takes a lot of hands to get ready for one BIG day, and our community always shows up. Year after year, families, friends, and parishioners come together to keep these traditions alive.

Thousands of apples and one amazing community. 🍎

We’re so grateful for everyone who gave their Saturday morning to help prepare for our festival!
