Just a note to thank all of you that came out and braved the rain for this year's Swine & Dine with this year's BBQ contest sanctioned by KCBS and the concert being headlined by Gabby Barrett and our hometown girl Gina Miles opening for her with the help of local artist Arron Newsom starting it off!
This event cannot even happen without great support and sponsors! They are truly what makes this event happen! There is so much planning and leg work that takes place that even sometimes we wonder how this event happens each year.
People seemed to like the change of moving the stage and the BBQ contest. We had confusion on the cruise in (not car show) location. We will work on that for next year with some ideas already planned. The KCBS was a big hit this year as it made for new challenges for the competitors. We are looking at creating some new things for next year!
I am going to say my Thank You's right here. If I miss you or your organization, I am sorry. I try not to leave anyone out, but sometimes it happens. Don't worry you are still in our minds and our hearts.
Here we go.
City of Paxton and the City of Paxton Employees, city council and Mayor. Thank you for working with us and making everything as easy as possible. From sponsorship and permission to paperwork, from getting picnic tables and barricades, to getting water to our vendors and sweeping the streets clean.
Dennis Nowman for getting the BBQ contest sanctioned and advertised. It brought new competition to our event, and it sound like next year could be bigger and better. The awards were pretty cool too.
Andrew Turner and Paxton ERS for helping to setup, tear down, be security for Gabby and the concert and giving us accurate weather forecasting (you really need to take rain out of the forecast!) Just joking. Moving the fencing and bike rack is a lot of work
Louis Rome and Tyson Franckey and Kaden Snelling for being great stagehands especially when it rained and the ramp was super slick! Your help is greatly appreciated!
Louis Rome again and his crew for cleaning up the trash and being runners. You did a great job again this year!
All the bartenders that help set up, tear down and sell the brew
Clarrissa Mennenga Thank you for continuously supporting the Swine & Dine with revising the paperwork, maps, banners and selling wristbands, and passes all day long! You are truly a blessing!
Tina Biggs, Sandra Glad, Suni for checking ID's selling wristbands, and party pit tickets
Donna Mansfield for watching the gates and answering questions
PBL Youth Football and Cheer coaches and board members for stepping up last minute and watching the bounce houses for us. You were really amazing to step up like that and help out this community event!
Donna Pepper and Paxton Main Street for continually putting updates out and advertising this event!
Elson's Sanitary for helping to get rid of this year's garbage! It means alot!
Thank you to Bob Laurie for being our runner to get the bus drivers.
Mike O'Neil and the crew of Thunder and Lighting Productions for working late hours and in the rain to make sure the band, stage, lighting and sound was perfect! Great job.
Tim Duffin with R & T Electric! Thank you for answering the call when neither of our generators would work! We would not have been able to have this event without you coming to fix them and for bringing us another generator!
A HUGE HUGE THANK YOU to all of our sponsors especially our 2 biggest sponsors Gibson Area Hospital Foundation and The City of Paxton! This event happens because of all of our amazing sponsors!
And to the Paxton Swine & Dine Committee Leah Moore, Alan Meyer, Keri Gillispie, Sam Gillispie, Lindsay & Dustin Christensen, Jim Hampton (Tatman's Towing), Dennis Nowman, Justin Withers for working so hard throughout the year in preparation of next years event.
If we left someone out, we apologize but your participation is appreciated! We try to make this a fun, family friendly and free event even though costs are increasing. So we are already off making plans for next year! See you Saturday September 18, 2027!
Thank you everyone again!
