The WWII German 1939 Wound Badge in Silver Hollow Variant, known as the "Verwundetenabzeichen," is a truly captivating piece that sparks deep emotion and historical reflection. This remarkable variation of the 1939 Silver Wound Badge stands out because, unlike most official solid-backed Silver badges, it features a rare hollow-stamped reverse—an early-war design that whispers stories of resilience and personal sacrifice. Crafted from high-quality brass (tombak) and heavily silver-plated, this badge carries a profound sense of authenticity and craftsmanship. Over decades, it has developed a stunning, natural iridescent tarnish, a testament to its age and the countless stories it’s witnessed. The detailed pebbling and period-correct hardware elevate its significance, making it not just a collectible, but a powerful reminder of the bravery and struggles of those who earned it. This piece is a captivating window into history, inspiring admiration and reverence for the sacrifices it represents.

Today, I had the incredible honor of exploring Madrid’s oldest and most vibrant Flea Market, "El Rastro." Stepping into this historic bustling marketplace felt like walking through centuries of history and stories. This market's roots stretch all the way back to the 15th century, a time when they would drag the carcasses from slaughterhouses down to the tanneries at the foot of the hill. The very name, Rastro, means "trail," and in this context, it evokes a trail of blood—an image that speaks to the raw, gritty origins of this place. It’s awe-inspiring to think how it evolved from those dark beginnings into the lively, colorful hub of treasures and culture that it is today—around 1740, it transformed into the vibrant market we cherish now.

During my searching for militaria I found a great little store called Intaria Militaria. If you get a chance to visit it you should.

Was able to find some nice pieces to take back for the Charleston Militaria EXPO
