The Penn State School of Music has announced a new recital series titled "American Mavericks, Malcontents, and Mischief-Makers." The series, which celebrates the bold and rebellious spirit of music, will kick off with a free preview recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the Recital Hall.

Dr Ma**ca S. Tacconi is making us Penn State proud!

School of Music faculty member Ma**ca Tacconi is featured in this BBC segment (at 43’55’) discussing her discovery of a music score painted on the wall of a Venetian orphanage in the 18th century. The photo is from a rehearsal of the newly discovered music, which was performed by the Venice Music Project on Dec. 1.

The Penn State School of Music is embarking on a twelve-hour fundraising campaign as part of the nationwide, twenty-four-hour GivingTuesday celebration. From 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on November 28, the School of Music will go live on Facebook to stream student performances and interactions every hour, on the hour. It is our hope to raise $25,000 for scholarships.

With Your Help We Can Create Our Giving Tuesday Composition!
For every $100 raised, we will add a musical note to a “GivingTuesday composition" for the day. Twelve hours, twelve bars of music, and 250 notes equals one beautiful musical composition and $25,000 for our students.
