It’s a beautiful morning for a photo shoot here today. Last week we had a fund raiser and two weeks ago a wedding and a few weeks before that a memorial get together. What event would you like to have at Elmwood? We do class re-unions, birthday and anniversary parties, art shows, fancy dinners, book signings, house tours, pretty much any kind of event. Want an event? Think Elmwood.

After the morning frost (our fifth, not including the deep freeze several weeks back, all of these after 15 days of 80 degree weather in early April) we are pleased to see the sugar maple leaves emerging. Ah, a delightful Spring eve.

It’s going to be a beautiful day for the Monroe County Historical Societies’s annual fundraiser. The cold of the morning has waned into warm sunshine. Birds are singing. and the flowers are blooming.

A beautiful Spring Day. There will be many crabapples at Elmwood this year as several trees are in full bloom with no risk of freezing.

April 6, 2026. Twenty years ago today a micro blast hit Elmwood and leveled the brick barn and toppled the 495 year old oak. It was estimated that winds topped 140 mph here. Today, the ‘new’ oak that replaced it stands over 40 feet high and the restored barn is already 20 years old.
