Her name was Bethany Markowski. She was 11. The last thing she ever said to her mom was "I love you."

Twenty-five years have passed. No arrest. No charges. No answers.

The surveillance cameras at the mall where she was supposedly dropped off never caught her on a single frame. The van was cleaned before TBI could process it. Rugs still wet when investigators arrived. A shovel with fresh dirt was found discarded nearby that same day.

Her father stopped talking to law enforcement. He's never been charged.

Bethany's mom Jonnie has spent 25 years keeping her daughter's name alive while watching the person she believes took her walk free.

25 years.

If you have information, please call 1-800-TBI-FIND or submit a tip at bethanymarkowski.com/tips. Her case is active. The TBI and FBI are still investigating.

Somebody knows. Please. đź’š

Help Find Bethany Markowski

Today is Tennessee Missing Children's Day and it's not a coincidence that today is the 25th anniversary of the disappearance of 11 year old beloved Bethany Leanne Markowski.

Please take a moment to think of all the missing children.
This is a journey no parent should ever have to walk, so let's get loud and show up and support so they're never alone.

The entire season 2 of Bethany's story is now available on the podcast Missing in Hush Town.

Her name was Bethany Leanne Markowski.

She was sassy and kind and silly. She mixed glitter into her lip balm. She had a cool Ricky Martin necklace. She traveled the country in her parents' 18-wheeler. A true 90s baby, pop music, boy band crushes, a bedroom that looked like a teen magazine exploded in it. She smiled most of the time, even when life gave her every reason not to. She carried light anyway.

She was 11 years old on March 4, 2001, when she vanished. She has never come home.

Her mother, Jonnie Carter, has not stopped searching for 25 years. She has shared Bethany's face on every website, every flyer, every platform she could find.

She turned her grief into legislation , and March 4 is now officially Tennessee Missing Children's Day. All of it while carrying the unbearable weight of not knowing.

This Wednesday, on the 25th anniversary of Bethany's disappearance, we are hosting our annual Tennessee Missing Children's Day Community Event at Capitol Theatre in Lebanon, Tennessee. Free. Open to everyone. Entirely in her honor.

We built this foundation because we hit a wall. We know what it feels like to search without direction, to grieve without resources. We want to be what nobody was for us, so every family that walks this road after us walks it a little less alone.

Come be part of something that matters. Come say her name.

One week from today, we will be inside The Capitol Theatre in Lebanon, Tennessee, saying Bethany's name out loud.

We want to be honest with you about something.

Building this has been hard. Every planning meeting, every design decision, every time we write Bethany's name in a document or pick a photo of her for a flyer, we feel the weight of who she was and what we lost. She was a real person. She was 11 years old.

We are not doing this to process grief. We are doing this because grief, for our family, has had a 25-year long wall at the end of it. No answers. No closure. No justice. And we have decided that if this is going to be our reality, then we are going to turn it into something. We are going to make sure it means something. We are going to make it so that another family picks up the phone and knows exactly who to call, because Bethany's family didn't.

We are one week away from the first time we get to do that publicly. And we need your help getting the word out.

Will you tag someone in the comments who lives in Tennessee and should know about this event? Will you share this post to your story today? Will you tell one person, just one, about March 4?

Because every share might reach exactly the family that needs it. And that is the whole point.

In 2017, a grieving mother walked into the Tennessee state legislature and asked for something almost no one asks for.

She asked for a day. One day a year where the state of Tennessee would stop and remember every child who had gone missing, and commit to fighting for them.

Her name is Jonnie Carter. Her daughter is Bethany Leanne Markowski. And because of her, March 4 is now officially Tennessee Missing Children's Day.

Jonnie did that while raising awareness for Bethany's case alone. While working full-time. While living every single day with the knowledge that her daughter has been missing since 2001 and no one has ever been charged.

She got a law passed. And then she kept going.

This year, for the 25th anniversary of the day Bethany disappeared, Jonnie and our family created The Bethany Markowski Foundation, because getting a day on the calendar was just the beginning. We want to build something real. A coordinated, free support system for families of missing children. The resources nobody handed us. The roadmap we had to make ourselves.

We want what happened to our family to mean something. We want Bethany's name to be attached to something that helps people. We want to do in her honor what nobody did for us.

On March 4, we open the doors of Capitol Theatre in Lebanon and we begin. Come be part of it.

FREE event. Walk-in. All are welcome. Capitol Theatre | Lebanon, TN | March 4, 2026
Doos open 5:30 p.m - 8 p.m.

This year on Tennessee Missing Children's Day, March 4, Bethany Leanne Markowski will be missing for 25 years.

And it is on this date that the team behind Missing in Hush Town Season 2: Bethany Markowski will release the final chapter (for now).

This will be the 16th episode of season two - told in 10 total chapters.

Thank you for being in Bethany's Brigade. đź’š

We want to make something explicitly clear:
This is not a goodbye- this is a "see you later"

As I have continued to show up and work on the Wix case from season one of Missing in Hush Town, we vow to do the same for Bethany.

We have three more intensive chapters planned, but out of an abundance of respect and caution to the active case, we will respectfully hold those back for when it's the right time.

Hear the final chapter (for now) on March 4, 2026.
