Rising Stars Music Competition Lake and Mendocino Countes Premiere Music Festival! Multiple genres of musical acts performing September 15th, 2018. The format is pretty simple.

Alex Thomas Plaza, Ukiah This event takes place with the End of Summer Show & Shine Classic Car Show! Rising Stars Music Showcase is a multi-musician, multi-genre music competition in which artists will be competing for prizes donated by the community while helping to raise funds for multiple non-profit organizations throughtout Lake and Mendocino Counties. Since its inception this event has raised over $21,000.00. The music is always awesome and everyone has a great time! Each musical act is placed in a category with other similar acts. Each act has a limited amount of time to setup, perform and tear down. We provide the backline equipment, so setup is streamlined and each act uses the same basic equipment. This competition presents artists in the area with a means to perform for the public, exposes the public to a lot of the very talented musicians in the area and gives everyone an exciting fun-filled, family friendly event!

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the passing of Doug Johns with our music community.

Doug had a heart even larger than the stages he performed on. He proudly served our country in the Army and was a longtime supporter of Rising Stars, performing in the acoustic category for many, many years.

Talented in multiple instruments, Doug most often graced our stage with his harmonica and guitar, sharing not only his music, but also his kindness, encouragement, and unmistakable spirit with everyone around him.

Doug will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, listening to him, and sharing the stage with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow musicians during this difficult time.
