We’re very excited about this special sunset performance on Saturday!!!
Julius Smack performs in US, Japan, and Europe celebrating
his new album Starlight, released March 25, 2025 on
American ambient music label Constellation Tatsu. His
performance conjures fantasy, urgency, and the subconscious
through ethereal proto-techno dance and ambient music.
Incorporating dance, keyboard and voice, video of the
mundane and catastrophic, and projected artwork by
collaborator Danny Espinoza, Starlight delivers urgent
storytelling about technology, q***rness, and new ways of
existing in an age of turbulent social and technological
change. Starlight envisions a dark future where artists are
among the last to survive civilizational collapse. In this world,
Julius Smack asks a fictional AI assistant, “Make an album
that tells the story about Julius Smack.” Starlight questions
labor systems and the role of the artist in the age of
generative AI through absurdist storytelling and fantastical
performance.
