Tulsa Tailgate - Spot 25

The 2015 Season starts tomorrow! Kickoff is at 2:30, so we'll eat at 1:15. I'll be there at noon, grilling hamburgers, hot dogs, and corn on the cob. I'm also bringing watermelon. Rev Dan is bringing chips, water, pop, and ice. He also has some yard games. Gloria is bringing baked beans and lemon bars. Please fill in accordingly. Welcome back, Presbyterian Scholars! A special welcome this season to Fr Kerry Wakulich and the Newman Center crew! And to Courtaney Miller, uKirk's Intern! This is going to be a great Fall.

Our next Tailgate is this Saturday. Kickoff is at 11:00 am. With the new TU rules in place, I will have to be at the Spot no later than 8:00 am.

So…let’s plan on breakfast! I’ll bring the grill for brats or breakfast sausages. There are electric outlets if anyone wants to make pancakes or blend up some Bloody Marys. Of course, breakfast casseroles and pastries are always a hit. I know it’s early, but it would be great to show the Sooners that we also know how to tailgate.

Too much, too little, Tulane!

Thanks to everyone who did their part to help kick off the season in such a great manner! It was a beautiful night, with delicious food (and drink), good friends, and a TU win. And congratulations to Joshua Atkinson #88, who ran for 80 yards in his season opener.

The Sooners are coming to town next Saturday morning, so let's start a conversation about logistics. Kickoff is at 11 AM. Yes: you read that right. With TU's new tailgate policies in place, I have to be parked at the spot at least 3 hours before the game, so an early breakfast will be no problem for me. What do you all think?

Let's talk logistics. The University Powers That Be have changed the vehicular hours of access to the Chapman Commons. All vehicles must now be in place three hours before kickoff (it was one hour in the past). They have given us special dispensation for the Tulane game, but please plan accordingly if you have dropped things off in the past and then moved your car. TU has also increased the tailgate spot price this year and has additionally added a requirement that every tailgate spot purchase four season tickets and join the Hurricane Club. So, this is becoming an increasingly expensive proposition for me. In response, I've set up a Square Reader account, and will have the iPad there at every tailgate. I certainly don't want to have any kind of minimum participation amount, nor do I want anyone to feel pressured in any way to donate anything - this is supposed to be fun for everyone, and that's the way we'll keep it! However, if you feel so led to help defray the costs, feel free to zip your card and donate whatever amount you desire. But again, the main thing is that you show up and have a great time!
