Bossa Nova Hits Tulsa: Immersive Musical Tribute to Antônio Carlos Jobim Coming to Historic Will Rogers Stage
TULSA, OK — Experience the heartbeat of Brazil in a vibrant, 90-minute musical tribute to the legendary Antônio Carlos Jobim, the man who brought Bossa Nova to the world. This immersive production will take place on Sunday, May 17, at 3:00 PM at the historic Will Rogers Auditorium, located at 3909 East 5th Place (Will Rogers Boulevard).
The show blends iconic melodies with rich narration and captivating multimedia to bring Jobim’s story and unmistakable rhythm to life.
The production is anchored by three of Oklahoma's most recognizable and talented figures:
Brad Henderson (Music Director): An acclaimed arranger and producer, Henderson serves as the conductor of the Oklahoma Baptist Symphony and previously spent years as the musical director for the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
Ana Berry (Vocalist): A nationally recognized TV host and journalist, Berry brings her deep passion for Brazilian music to the stage. She is the founder of the band Bossa and a frequent presence on RSU Public TV and KJRH.
Alan Crone / News On 6 (Emcee): Widely known as the trusted meteorologist from News On 6, Crone is also an avid musician with a deep love for a wide variety of musical genres.
An Elite Musical Ensemble
The performance features a special guest appearance by Nick Mancini, an award-winning vibraphonist, 2015 Drum Magazine Reader’s Poll Best Jazz Percussionist, and University of Tulsa professor who has recorded with luminaries such as Herb Alpert and Arturo Sandoval.
The ensemble also includes an array of first-class musicians:
Elizabeth Ann Potts (Flute): A guest artist with the Tulsa Symphony and adjunct faculty at The University of Tulsa.
Michael Bremo (Drums/Percussion): A Codarts Conservatory alumnus whose playing reflects the quiet power and elegance of Jobim’s compositions.
George Toumayan: Currently in his ninth year as the band director at Metro Christian Academy, George continues to be an active performer with world tour experience.
Nathan Eicher (Bass): A seasoned and prominent musician in the Tulsa music scene and has shared the stage with Hall of Fame talent.
Randy Wimer (Guitar): A veteran performer and teacher who has been an active force in Tulsa music since the early 1970s.
Tommy Poole (Saxophone): The Director of Jazz Studies at Oklahoma State University and a critically acclaimed producer.
A String Quartet with Ethan Landis (Viola), Dina Litvinov (Violin), Gulya Hollopeter (Cello), Elena Gavrilov (Violin)
