SNIP S.N.I.P. is a collaboration between Spay and Neuter Solutions, Tucson CARES, and No Kill Pima County to improve and save lives through spay/neuter.

The Spay Neuter Intervention Project (S.N.I.P.) aims to make public spay and neuter of companion animals in Pima County more timely and accessible through the cultivation of community based, innovative programs and targeted spay/neuter promotions and events. Spay/neuter is a key component to controlling population. It is a life saving measure that not only helps keeps animals out of pounds and she

lters, but opens up resources for the ones who are already there. is a collaboration between Spay and Neuter Solutions, Tucson CARES and No Kill Pima County. We hope that through collaboration and community support, to “intervene” in a community crisis. Currently, the county's only "free" program is highly restrictive, has unexpected or mandatory fees and has an extensive wait time of up to 7 months. Providing timely and accessible spay/neuter services not only improves the quality of life for each animal, it could significantly impact the number of animals needlessly destroyed in Pima County, as it has done in other communities.

The S.O.S. Help Desk is a partnership between No Kill Pima County and PACC. We've had a 30% rate of diversion on keeping animals out of the shelter by offering information, encouragement and resources during (our very limited) hours of operation. We need more volunteers to make a bigger impact! Please join us at our next training. Offering S.N.I.P. vouchers has been a part of this success! Shadowing a mentor for 2 hours prior to the training is a requirement to see first hand if this is up your alley. Contact to schedule or if interested!

NEXT TRAINING MARCH 9th, 2015. Join the S.O.S. Help Desk Team. Contact us to reserve a space in the next training. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE: 1/3 of the people we talk to at the S.O.S. Help Desk, outside the PACC intake door, decide NOT to leave their pet(s) at PACC. And over 90% of those pets who w…

Thank you to everyone who came to and contributed to the "Flea-less Market"! We raised almost $1000 which will launch the Melvin Community Cat Medical Fund and a portion of which will be used to sponsor felines that may test positive for felv/FIV at the Pima Animal Care Center.

As the adoptable cats move from tiny kennels and are integrated into large enclosures where they can climb, scratch, play, hide etc. they will need to be tested. An estimated 2-3% of the population will test positive and we want to be able to offer sponsorship on these at risk cats as as Special Needs Adoptions and to rescue. Positive cats are among the most difficult to place and it's likely they can not stay at PACC long.

This will be a challenging and emotional side effect of this new approach to sheltering at PACC, however, when considering the benefits, it is a risk worth taking. Both rescue and adoptive families will know the the status of the cats they take in in advance.

Educating and offering Spay/Neuter support DOOR TO DOOR with friend and partner Katie Powers of Spay and Neuter Solutions, Inc. to alter dogs where Tucson CARES is doing high volume TNR. No one has turned us away and they are grateful for relief. We need help to alter nearly 40 dogs/puppies (and counting if we don't act quickly!!!) in a single mobile home park in the Miracle Manor neighborhood. We have a Spanish speaking translator assisting us and Tucson CARES will be providing transportation for the many clients with out vehicles. We are grateful for contributions in any amount. They are fully tax deductible and go directly towards the animals. www.tinyurl.com/supportsnip

Newsworthy!

Animal welfare in the U.S. and other countries is going to get a huge boost on Monday. In order to appreciate just how big a boost it will be, some sad facts must be acknowledged. First, there are ...

We are excited to advocate, educate and offer Spay/Neuter and TNR assistance at the Healthy Living Fair in South Tucson! Last year's fair had more than 600 attendees and we are the first and only animal welfare group to participate. Please contribute towards the sponsorship of altering a South Tucson pet--likely to be mostly dogs, which are costly. We don't want to end up with our own waiting list to help pets in need especially with Spring right around the corner! Online and fully tax deductible contributions can be made at www.tinyurl.com/supportsnip.
