Summer is fast approaching and music camps are starting up! Join our own Dan Levenson, Tucson, AZ president of SWOT’s Southwest Old-Time String Band Association at Kentucky Music Camp.
This is his first year teaching at Kentucky Music Camp in Bardstown, KY! Here is a list of classes he is teaching. Not too late to sign up at
Ky music week classes
Fiddle From Scratch. Let's get going on what some folks consider the most difficult instrument to learn to play. It isn't really that difficult. Half the battle is just holding it and playing clean notes. We really will "start from scratch"! Bring your instrument turned to GDae, low to high, bow, rosin, and a positive attitude. We will do the rest together!
Fiddle Beyond Scratch! This workshop is for all level players that are interested in playing better and in the Appalachian Old Time style. Students should come tuned to standard pitch to start. We'll start with a review of the basics -- bow hold, tone, intonation, and rhythm -- then proceed to assess student level and develop an understanding where you would like to "go".
Clawhammer Banjo - Double and Drop, G 'lix and Lix. Double thumb and drop thumb are the two most requested techniques in Claw-hammer Banjo playing. This workshop is designed to emphasize these techniques as well as strengthen your basic skills. While most folks all want to learn more tunes, this workshop gives you the tools you need to do just that!
