Troy Vets Club

Troy Vets Club Veterans Organization The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. We look forward to seeing you at our facility!

Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million, and local posts sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at over 2.4 million in 14,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55

departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines. Over the years, the Legion has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for children and youth. We are an American Legion as well as a VFW who combined together in the early 1970's. The property is owned by the American Legion, therefore, we honor American Legion cards from other American Legions all around the world and are unfortunately unable to honor a VFW memberships from other clubs. Troy Vets Club is a house occupied by American Legion Post 49, VFW 8675, Sons of the American Legion, American Legion Riders, American Legion Auxiliary, as well as our social membership program.

Kalie Silver and Brandi Heasley are two staff members of C&N Bank who love our veterans and appreciate their sacrifice. These are the smiling faces we saw walking ahead of the Memorial Day Parade in Troy on Monday and giving free flags to the spectators.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out for the parade and all the groups that participated in honoring our fallen soldiers, sailors and airman.

On Monday (May 25th) at 9 am the Troy’s Memorial Day Parade kicks off from W R Croman Elementary School. It will proceed to Davison Green and be followed by a ceremony celebrating our military veterans who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This is a somber, serious day and the parade spectators should reflect their reverence for the day. The following groups are participating this year:
American Legion Post 49 in conjunction with VFW Post 8675
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 49
Sons of the American Legion Squadron 49
American Legion Riders Chapter 49
Gold Star Families
Honored Veterans
Scout troops from Troy
FFA members from THS
Troy Town Band
THS Band and Chorus
Honored Government Officials
Local Historical Organizations
Dairy Princess with her Court
This year volunteers from C&N Bank will be walking 15 minutes ahead of the parade to distribute handheld American flags to kids along the parade route, so be there early and wave them proudly as the parade marches by.
Again, this year there will be an opportunity to “Step off the Curb” and join the parade at the designated spot.
Preston Edsell will be Parade Boss again this year with Rev. Garry Zuber assisting.

The red poppy speaks where words fall short — a silent tribute to the sacrifices made for our freedom by the heroes who served and died for our country in all wars. ❤️‍🩹 The poppy is a reminder that their courage will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

After World War I, the American Legion Family brought National Poppy Day® to the United States by asking Congress to designate the Friday before Memorial Day as National Poppy Day.

The Auxiliary promotes the poppy as a symbol of the sacrifices our military have made, a symbol to open people’s hearts and inspire them to donate to help support the future of veterans, servicemembers, and their families. 🇺🇸

Today, on National Poppy Day, wear a red poppy to honor the fallen and support the living. ❤️
