After reflecting on our Mission Statement and considering the growth and future of the Northwestern Michigan Fair, this Board has decided to sever the direct relationship with MSU and move forward as a Youth Fair for the 2027 Fair. Moving to a Youth Fair will streamline management of our event. This change creates greater opportunities for the Fair to support Youth and the Community by opening the Fair to all the surrounding Youth in the five counties we serve of Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau.

Let’s be clear ALL 4-H Clubs, FFA and Youth in our five-county area will be welcomed.

We will continue to work with all local organizations, and group your clubs and organizations in camping spaces and the barns to the best of our ability. The only change will be that all Youth will register for Youth Classes and no longer have a “4-H only” category available.

This meeting will be THIS Thursday, June 4th at 7PM under the Pavilion at the NW MI Fair Grounds.

Good Morning! Have you and your spouse thought about renewing your wedding vows? Would you love to do this at the Northwestern Michigan Fair Grounds?

We will forever remember this amazing man! He wanted to go on a ride during the fair so Vic and Carolyne went on the zipper, which was absolutely awful, but he was on the radio live and Carolyne was on Facebook live. It was definitely adventure every time he’d come out to the fairgrounds. We will miss you Vic! I hope you can now rest easy and be at peace.

I’m sorry to say Vic McCarty passed away today, 4/6/26. He went peacefully at Munson Hospice House after being diagnosed only one year ago with pancreatic and prostate cancer. He gave it his all to try and beat it.

We will keep you posted about upcoming services. There will be a nice tribute on 9&10 News tomorrow, 4/7/26, at 6:00 pm highlighting Vic’s broadcasting career and his impact on our community. We will try to post a link for those who are not able to watch.

Please know Vic LOVED broadcasting and getting to know all of you. He was happiest when on the air and truly appreciated the love you all showed him over the years.

Please continue to keep Vic’s mom, sisters, family and friends in your thoughts as we process this huge loss.

And remember, like Vic used to say, “be nice to someone today. Hold a door open, smile, say hello. It will make them feel better and it will make you feel better, too.”
