As our academic year begins and Nutcracker rehearsals kickoff, we are excited to continue our series of Teacher Highlights with Children’s Division Faculty, Hope Bourque!
Hope began her ballet training at the Hartford Ballet School in 1999 at the age of three. In 2001, she began training at The Torrington School of Ballet. Hope was privileged to continue her ballet education under the direction of esteemed Children's Division and Nutmeg Ballet faculty, including Susan Szabo, Victoria Mazzarelli, Joan Kunsch, and Alexei Tchernichov.
Following her time at Nutmeg Ballet, Hope trained privately with Scott Thyberg, founder of Dansereye. She returned to Nutmeg Ballet in 2016 to continue her training and shortly thereafter completed the teacher training of the Vaganova Method under the direction of Susan Szabo, former Director of The Torrington School of Ballet.
In addition to her work in the studio, Hope is involved in the administrative and business operations of Nutmeg. She works with the marketing team, supporting initiatives that contribute to the organization’s outreach, development, and day-to-day operations. Her work across both the artistic and administrative sides of this organization has given her a well-rounded perspective on the work that goes into supporting and sustaining a professional ballet institution!
