Ichabod Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society

Ichabod Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society Washburn University Pi Gamma Chapter of Beta Beta Beta TriBeta was founded in 1922 at Oklahoma City University--the Alpha Chapter--by Dr. Frank G.

Brooks and a group of his students. The idea of an honor and professional society for biology students spread rapidly and by 1925, the society was a national organization. Biennial national conventions of student and faculty members began in that year and in 1930 the society journal, BIOS, began publication of student research, articles of interest to biologists and society news. As the society gr

ew, it was divided into regional and district groups, each of which holds a convention annually. At the heart of every district and national meeting are student research papers presented in the style of graduate meetings. Awards are given for outstanding individual and chapter accomplishment.

Special message to Biology Alumni:

I am pleased to announce that on Saturday, October 29th, the Washburn Biology Department will be hosting a Homecoming Game Tailgate Event beginning at 11:00 a.m. on the lawn just north and west of the football stadium. Washburn University hosts Fort Hays State University for this year’s homecoming game, which begins at 1:00 p.m. Tickets for the game should be plentiful. The area for the tailgate will be close enough to the fence that you could actually watch the game without going into the stadium and we plat to tailgate throughout the entire game.

Please join biology faculty, students and fellow alumni for food and fun with while we cheer on the #3 nationally ranked Ichabods! This is a great opportunity to catch up with former professors and classmates and to meet some of the new professors and current WU biology students. It should be a great time and we welcome you all back home for another great Homecoming event!

On behalf of the Biology Department, I hope to see you there!
