About TAU:
Topeka Acappella Unlimited (TAU) is a four part barbershop harmony and are an affiliate of Sweet Adelines International. One of their main goals this year is to focus on recruitment & fundraising.

"We love to entertain and can be heard throughout the year singing for civic and charitable organizations, private groups, churches, families and friends, community events, and fundraisers. The wonderful women who make up TAU come from all walks of life. They are teachers, office workers, nurses, lawyers, retirees, moms and grandmothers. They have discovered a unique hobby which allows them to share their passion for singing and performing in this uniquely American style of barbershop music - all for the thrill of locking and ringing chords."

Our Sweet Adeline of the Year for 2025-26 is a relatively new member, joining TAU in 2023 when we were a combined chorus with Kansas City. It didn’t take Katie Lednicky long to jump right in and become an important part of our chorus. This first and only barbershopper in her family stumbled onto this hobby when looking online for a local group to join in Topeka. She didn’t know any music-minded people and was missing that part of her life. As has since remarked, Google gave her TAU and welcomed her with open arms.
Katie volunteered for the social committee right away and in the past year, she has served on the music team. She has a solid background in music as a former music teacher, a job she held until the pandemic, when she became a radiologist working at the VA Hospital in Topeka.
In addition to serving as a TAU section leader, this Sweet Adeline of the Year is now singing with a quartet, “Just Gettin’ Started.” She is also leading us once a month in a half hour of “Tag Time” before regular rehearsals.
In just three short years, Katie has already compiled some rich memories. One was competing on the international stage, and another was when we adopted a family for Christmas and were able to deliver gifts and sing to the family.
This member’s favorite barbershop song is any song that has us all connected and ringing with overtones.
Picture this 30-something Sweet Adeline of the Year skipping and running to deliver flowers to our newest member and you’ll get an idea of the gusto she brings to this music hobby. In fact, she has so much energy and enthusiasm, she is heading our upcoming efforts to hold a Zumbathon as a fund raiser.
