It has always seemed important to find other psychedelic artists and be supportive and encouraging because it’s never that easy for “normal” artists let alone ones that are inspired by altered states. Allyson Grey was the first person that I knew who was describing her psychedelic experiences with her art. This became a bond for life, we each supported the other’s unique and beautiful lens to the infinite and we share the unifying subject of transcendental light and love.
I was always blown away by Ernst Fuchs, Mati Klarwein and HR Giger, each of them brought previously unseen worlds into tremendous detail, just like William Blake described, in “minute particulars.” I was friends with these artists as well as Robert Venosa and Martina Hoffmann, we were the overtly realistic psychedelic visionaries and we can see that this branch has continued to grow stronger and trippier. The depiction of luminous beings and worlds by contemporary artists like Amanda Sage, Luke Brown, Jonathan Solter, Blake Foster and philosophical social works of Mark Henson, Mear One and Joe Coleman, and mythic theatrical spaces of Swoon and Maura Holden are extraordinary. The digital mindscapes of Android Jones, Burt Veracruz, and Ben Ridgeway have become classic animated entheogenic worlds. The video projections of UON, TAZ and Delta Process light up psychedelic festivals around the world. I deeply admire artists like Chris Dyer, Van Minnen, Miles Johnston, James Seber and Erik Parker and the list is actually endless.
