Good Day!

As we ease into Saturday I wanted to give a quick primer to address a few of the questions I have been asked and the answers should benefit everyone.

1. Registration: 7:30ish. Park in the grass or gravel on the north side of the fairgrounds. Sign the waiver, grab your swag bag, announce your intended distance and your name to the guy with the clipboard.
2. Start time: 9 am. This is not a set time but more of a guideline. If you decide to roll out at 8:30 or 9:15 go for it. “You do you” -Daniel Loughry (Sterile Iowan)
3. Scoring: I will have a clipboard with your name on it after you register. We mark your start time then we or you mark your end time. Like a time trial. Also, let’s me know who is on the course and who is not. I plan to ride the 16ish mile so you fast 25ers might beat me back.
4. Racing: THIS IS NOT ENTIRELY A RACE. If you want to race, grab a group and be ready to roll at 9 am and I’ll say go. Follow all the other rules.
5. Course: Refer to a previous post for your route. No cue cards day of. No course markings at all. Brief your self for mud ride arounds. County parks have water. Know them. No C stores on route. Basic aid stations at mile 15ish (my house) and 40 ish (this will probably be on the side of a road) as well as 90ish at red oak park (hydrant). Prepare for your own adventure. Crying is absolutely fine as long as you don’t use my name with foul language. 😏
6. Mud: The course is the course. If it’s muddy you may either hike a bike or reroute via gravel/pavement to the closest place to re-enter the course . Your choice…choose wisely. Chance of rain Friday night BTW.
7. If you want to just go for a ride, just go for a ride. An easy way to ride cedar county is to keep turning left or keep turning right.
8. Time: I plan to be there by 7 am. Restrooms will be open, hammer nutrition will be available, merch sales (cash or Venmo), coolers, grill, donation jar, etc. I plan to be home by 6 pm .
I am really excited for Saturday. I look forward to seeing new and old faces (Kevin Seydel🤣) and taking a “break”. Please keep asking questions and I will do my best to answer.

Who likes to know where they are going?

Ok, before I get the question: “What if it rains?”

Answer: These are it. Now here is the fun part. As part of the uniqueness of this event you have the option to either hike a bike OR you may navigate via gravel/paved road to the other end of the mud section. Every dirt road can be routed around via gravel, albeit it will probably add 3 ish miles. Your choice….choose carefully. With all the tracking apps out there it really doesn’t benefit anyone to cheat at a free event with the top prize being a Sugar Creek Builders hat! I think this could be fun and an interesting dynamic if you decide to race.

Now if you want to just show up and ride the famous I’ll give you some suggestions. I might even pull out a map.

Here are the routes we are gonna use:

16ish mile route: (probably the one your favorite Cedar County Resident will be riding)
