Athens man killed in I-20 accident

McDuffie County Coroner Paul Johnson has released the name of the driver who died following an accident at mile marker 173 on I-20 today.
First responders were called to the scene at 12:19 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.
Mark Delafchell, 53, of Athens, GA, was reportedly driving a vehicle that ran into the rear of an 18-wheeler that slowed for traffic. He was transported to Doctors Hospital's trauma unit where he succumbed to his injuries at 1:39 p.m.
The McDuffie County Coroner's office and the Georgia State Patrol are investigating the incident.
