Jenna Dontje will be receiving a scholarship from Winnebago Farm Bureau to attend Simpson College this fall for Sports Administration/Management.
During HS, Jenna participated in volleyball, basketball, track, band and 4-H. She was awarded multiple all conference athletic awards and varsity letters along with academic letters. She was voted athlete of the month and prep athlete of the week. Her athletic prowess was shared when she assisted the coaching staff with youth basketball and Northern Lights volleyball.
Jenna’s leadership skills were evident when she was elected president of her 4-H chapter. Growing up in a farm family cemented her love of livestock and her desire to teach others about agriculture.
Once she becomes certified in coaching, her plans are to return to her roots in rural Iowa, coach basketball and raise livestock.
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Jenna!

Winnebago FB scholarship committee had a hard time judging our scholarship applications this year, but Carson Bruns’ application stood out.
During his high school years, Carson was a busy guy. He participated in track and baseball and was captain of the football and basketball teams and was awarded 1st team All District Football. He also shared his knowledge of sports by helping in youth basketball and football camps along with youth tournaments by officiating.
Carson was very active in his church also by teaching Sunday school, giving the readings and communion along with take the offering. He was active in the Lutheran Youth Organization also by delivering meals to the elderly, helping with food drives, helped make birthday kits and gift packages, collected school supplies and helped with the Giving Tree at Christmas.
His community also reaped the benefits of his volunteering when he helped with Ragbrai, set up the Memorial Day flags and helped out at the local food bank.
All this volunteering was balanced with studying. He was a National Honor Society member and was also awarded Academic All State Football and Basketball, Academic All Conference Basketball and Academic All District Football. Carson was also awarded the Jim Becker Award which shows character on and off the basketball court and being a true teammate.
Carson comes from a fifth-generation Winnebago County farming family which gives him an understanding of the importance of agriculture in Iowa. His plans are to pursue Ag Business at Iowa State University and return to north Iowa after graduating. Congratulations Carson!
