Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council, Inc. Growing people and community through the Arts!

TRAHC is a people-building and community-building organization – a leadership organization of arts and ideas that works to create an energized, creative, connected community. Formed in 1978 by community leaders with generous assistance from the Junior League of Texarkana, TRAHC’s goals were to protect, develop, take advantage of, and provide all citizens with access to our own cultural resources. As we have progressed, the “arts” have also proven to be a wise economic investment as well as a tourism stimulus. TRAHC is both a presenter and a preserver of historical legacies for the Perot Theatre and the Regional Arts Center. The guiding principals of TRAHC are:

Help us congratulate the winners of our Regional Exhibition: Ghosts and Things! 👻

This show centers on haunting, ghostly, or otherwise supernatural imagery, and artists were encouraged to explore loss, grief, absence, and presence through their own interpretation. You can see ALL of the amazing pieces in this show for yourself! The Regional Arts Center galleries are free and open to the public, Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Tough Kookie Foundation ArtWall is up! 🩷 This year marks the 7th anniversary of this inspiring project, and the impact continues to grow. The Art Wall provides a creative and healing space for cancer survivors and their families to express their emotions, surrounded by others who understand their journey.

Get ready to groove and create with TRAHC! ✨

TRAHC will host Art for All Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at TRAHC’s ArtSpace, located at 518 Pine Street. The free community event is open to all ages and will feature an interactive performance and hands-on art activities for families.
The day kicks off at 11 AM with an interactive dance performance by Rooted Movement Collective. Following the performance, the Mayo Arts MakerSpace will be open to the community from 12–2 PM.

National Teaching Artist Kay Thomas will facilitate open-ended Turkarama art projects in the MakerSpace, inviting participants to create, experiment, and explore at their own pace. Whether you’re an experienced artist or simply curious to try something new, everyone is welcome to join the creative experience.

Art for All Day is designed to provide families and community members with an opportunity to experience and participate in the arts together in a welcoming, hands-on environment.

The event is free and open to the public. Art for All Day is made possible by a generous grant from the Texarkana Arkansas Advertising & Promotion Commission.

Congratulations to TAAC Quilting Group's Dr. Teretha F. Harper for getting three quilts accepted to the 18th Annual Atlanta Quilt Festival 2025.

TAAC Quilting Group members use fabrics as the foundation and quilting as the technique to create artistic expressions and tell significant stories. The group is inspired by Gee's Bend Quilting Guild in Boykin, Alabama and focuses on African American quilting characteristics: striking colors, big shapes, abstract design, piecing, and storytelling. Since September 2022, members have created 75 quilt gifts for family and friends. Mary Pearce is the quilter for all three artifacts.

We want to say a special thanks to Summit Utilities for supporting TRAHC’s Mayo Furniture Arts MakerSpace through grant funding! This generous support helped us provide hands-on STEAM experiences where students explored art, design, engineering, and creative problem-solving through building, collaboration, and project-based learning.

The Arts MakerSpace expanded access to engaging enrichment opportunities for youth in our community. Through materials like LEGOs and Magna-Tiles and community-wide Maker events, students and families have the opportunity to build, create, collaborate, and learn together.

Thank you, Summit Utilities, for investing in creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning in our community!
