Sheila Merrel of Jourdanton Square Apartments had a tenant who received the inaugural RRHA Scholarship from the Carol Miller Endowment. Carol was an employee of Hamilton Valley Management, Inc for 32 years and a very familiar face at RRHA of Texas. We are honored to establish a perpetual scholarship endowment in Carol’s name.

The Rural Rental Housing Association Scholarship Fund, Inc. was established in 2018 to promote education and expand opportunities for residents of affordable housing in rural America. The Scholarship Fund will award up to five (5) scholarships. Scholarship amounts will be determined by the Selection Committee and recipients will be provided the amount divided equally over 2 semesters. Each scholarship will be a one-time scholarship for educational expenses, with the recipient being eligible to re‐apply annually, as long as the requirements are met. The Scholarship Fund is accepting applications now through MAY 1, 2025.

For complete instructions on applying for a RRHA of Texas scholarship and to download an application, please visit the “Quick Links” section of RRHA’s website, www.rrhatx.com, or see attached application. All applications will be reviewed and scored by the Scholarship Committee, who are solely responsible for the final selections. Winners will be announced at the RRHA of Texas Annual Convention scheduled for July 15-17, 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas Frisco Hotel.

PROPERTY SITE MANAGERS: Please encourage deserving students of RRHA of Texas member properties to apply for these scholarships. Site managers play integral roles in the lives of residents who live in affordable rural housing complexes. Therefore, the Scholarship Fund will present the manager at each complex (that has a scholarship winner), a $100 Amazon gift card, plus other special recognition.

RRHA of Texas provides a complete selection of Texas state-specific rental resources. We offer online educational training programs as well as in-person housing industry-related courses.
