Training Tip Tuesday. We have finally arrived at the Half Pass. All of the exercises up to this point have revolved around moving the horse off the outside leg, specifically through the haunches in. In this exercise, we pair 2 exercises - the turn on the haunches and the shoulder in - to get the half pass. In the half pass, the horses will be moving forward and sideways at the same time while looking in the direction of travel. The outside legs should pass in front of the inside legs as the horse moves across the diagonal line. The turn on the haunches prepares the horse by moving him off outside leg and the shoulder in positions the horse so the the shoulders lead the movement. Once the turn on the haunches is complete, take a few steps of shoulder in and point the horse's nose and inside shoulder toward your end point. Then, begin asking the horse to move away from the outside leg while keeping the nose and inside shoulder on the diagonal line of travel toward your end point. Be sure to align your shoulders with the horse's and look where you would like to touch the rail or quarterline when you finish the half pass. Happy riding.

Had a great day showing at the Boo Bash dressage show @ Deer Springs Equestrian with Howard Wedertz ,Susan Wedertz and Tamara Boyer! Thank you so much for a great show.
Everyone had a blast and the horses all did so well! Howard showed fourth level for the first time winning 🥇 and I was able to show my horse Boone for the first time since he’s been my horse also getting a 🥇 in our very first training level test. We had some setbacks but we worked through them. The best part was the costume class that I’m hoping someone got some photos of…. Pic to follow soon if I can find any lol

Also super proud of Howard and Susan’s young horse Firefall for handing the costume class and regular class so well! We finally bumped our score up to a 62.8% and got two 🥉 places and win some money for our costume!!

@ Deer Springs Equestrian if anyone has photos please let me know. Thanks 😊

Team Stepping Stones had a phenomenal weekend at SCHC finals in Del Mar! Rylie Bertling and Firefly claimed 2nd place 🥈 in the $500 0.70 jumper classic and 5th in optimum time class. They competed in their first Hunter class ever finishing 7th out of 9. Lola Marks and Brassy also did well taking reserve champion titles in their divisions. Both ladies won tons and ribbons and rode some beautiful, solid rounds.
Thanks to Lance, Scott, and the entire team for hosting and supporting this amazing event!
Also big thank you to The Bertling family for being so helpful and supportive 💕 looking forward to Jingle Bells in December
