The 46th Telluride Jazz Festival will take place August 11-13, 2023 in Telluride, Colorado. The Telluride Jazz Festival is a three day and night live music event centered around jazz that is held on the first weekend of August every year. An intimate format, enabled by limited ticket sales, offers a unique chance to experience the openness and beauty of the legendary Telluride Town Park music venu

e, accompanied by a once in a life time soundtrack provided by acclaimed artists, Grammy Award winners, cutting edge innovators, rare supergroups, and some of the best student bands in the country. The core audience of loyal patrons, dedicated locals, and curious travelers creates a relaxed vibe where laying back in your chair or letting your hair down to dance are equally encouraged. Great food vendors and microbrews on tap cover the basic amenities, while additional free wine and spirit tastings from local vineyards and distilleries provide a sample of Colorado’s renowned craftsmanship. At night the music moves from Telluride Town Park into historic indoor music venues within easy walking distance. There special Jazz After Dark late night performances often present memorable collaborations and up-close viewing of the artists in their element. On Sunday, that kicks off with a Second Line brass band parade down Main Street. Colorful floats, costumes, beads and decorations are all welcome as patrons join in on the march through town.

Artist Spotlight: Don Was & The Pan Detroit Ensemble
Celebrating 50 Years of the Grateful Dead’s Blues for Allah
Friday, August 7
5:15–6:30 PM (Main Stage)
10:00 PM (Sheridan Opera House)

When Don Was hits the stage, Detroit comes with him.

The legendary bassist, producer, and bandleader brings a powerhouse ensemble steeped in jazz, blues, and funk—channeling the raw, unmistakable groove of the Motor City.

This special set celebrates Blues for Allah, the Grateful Dead’s bold, boundary-pushing album that fused psychedelia with jazz and global influences. More than 50 years later, it still sounds ahead of its time.

With deep ties to the Dead (including co-founding Wolf Bros with Bobby Weir), Was is the perfect guide for this journey.

Plus: new music from Groove in the Face of Adversity, capturing the unfiltered spirit of Detroit.

“There’s a rawness… an unmistakable groove that reflects the entire city.” — Don Was

This is a moment.

May the music never stop.

Artist Spotlight: Adrian Quesada’s Trio Asesino
Saturday, August 8 • Main Stage (2:35–3:45 PM) + Late Night at The Moon (10:00 PM)
Best known as one half of Black Pumas, Adrian Quesada has helped define one of the most electrifying soul acts of the last decade alongside Eric Burton—earning multiple Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist.
But Quesada’s story runs deeper. A cornerstone of Austin’s Latin music scene, he’s led projects like Brownout, Ocote Soul Sound, Spanish Gold, and Echocentrics, and spent 15 years with Grupo Fantasma. His work as a producer spans 150+ credits from his Electric Deluxe studio.
Drawing from his Texas–Mexico border roots, Quesada’s music blends Latin grooves, soul, hip-hop, and cinematic balladry—earning him eight Grammy nominations and an Academy Award nod for “Like A Bird” from Sing Sing.
Catch this genre-defying set on the Main Stage—and don’t miss the late-night performance at The Moon.

Artist Spotlight: Lettuce
Celebrating 100 Years of Miles Davis
Saturday, August 8 • 8:00 PM (Main Stage)

What happens when one of today’s most electrifying funk bands pays tribute to one of the greatest jazz innovators of all time?

Lettuce takes on Miles.

From their reimagining of Bi***es Brew (heard on Witches Stew) to their fearless, genre-bending live shows, Lettuce is built for this moment. Expect a set that leans into Miles’ legacy—bold, experimental, and completely unpredictable.

This isn’t just a headlining set—it’s shaping up to be one of the most talked-about performances of the weekend.

Don’t miss it.
