September 11, 1998.The checkered flag fell, and Buck King parked it in Victory Lane one last time at Tri-City.This video isn’t just his final win—it’s a snapshot of an era when Saturday nights were spent under the lights, engines roared, and hard-fought battles were settled on the racetrack. Buck earned every inch of that victory the same way he earned the respect of his fellow racers and the fans in the grandstands.Nearly 28 years later, those memories are still as strong as ever. We’re proud to share this piece of racing history and remember a driver who left his mark on Tri-City Speedway and everyone fortunate enough to watch him race.Take a few minutes, turn the sound up, and enjoy Buck King’s final Tri-City victory from September 11, 1998. Some of the best memories in racing were made when guys like Buck King and Ray Meylan rolled through the pit gate, unloaded their cars, and settled things on the Tri City racetrack.

Lap Sponsor #57 Musser Racing

A huge thank you to our Lap 57 sponsor for sharing such a great memory of Buck.
Like so many race fans, he grew up watching Buck race at Tri-City Motor Speedway. Buck was the guy you rooted for—the underdog who wasn’t afraid to take on the best, like Tommy Maier, Steve Sauve, and Ed Howe. And every now and then, Buck would put it all together and steal a win against the toughest competition around.
One memory that has always stuck with him was when Buck got incredibly fast one season. His Uncle Rod joked, “He got a set of those Brodix 11X spread port heads! We gotta get a set of those!” To this day, every time he hears “Brodix,” he thinks of Buck.
Years later, racing brought them together again at Whittemore Speedway, where he got to know Buck personally. He found out what so many others already knew—Buck was not only a talented racer but an even better person. If he could help someone, he would. He was a true racer with a big heart.

Mike Luberda lap #30 sponsor. The green car was Buck’s old race car that I was fortunate enough to buy from him, which makes it even more special to me.
Someone asked if I had a favorite story about Buck. Honestly, I don’t think I could pick just one. I have so many great memories with him, and every one of them brings a smile to my face.
The one thing that always sticks out, though, is that darn wooden spoiler! 🤣
I was probably 9 years old at Whittemore Speedway, and I never missed a chance to give Buck a hard time about it. He always took it with a smile, and it’s one of those memories I’ll never forget.
